Cysts connect if there is a dotted line between them.
Cysts are removed if another is placed within their UI radius.
As far as I can tell, the mod as it was originally designed not useful here.
What behaviours were you interested in the mod providing?
Thanks for your interest in the mod.
I have no idea if the mod is still working as I haven't played NS2 in a very long time.
The last time I tried to update the mod, I got some kind of credentials error when I tried to push the update to the workshop here.
I will take a look to see if the mod itself works, and if not, if I can get it working again.
I will also post here whether I will be able to maintain this mod in the future.
Thanks again.
Then I've tried to activate ONLY this mod and pressed Optimise. It actually worked. After this I've activated all other mods. It asked me again to Optimise ... somehow ... It is woking now.
I'm not a modder so I often ask if something goes wrong, but now it is woking now. Thy.
I've just tested disabling and enabling this mod and both actions cause NS2 to ask me to optimise. The optimisation is relatively quick since it appears to be processing just the one texture included in the mod.
I haven't had the black screen problem however.
Do you still experience the black screen if this is the only mod enabled?
And if so, when exactly does the black screen occur? When you click "Optimise"?
I'm impressed with the response to this mod. When I first released it, I thought it would be a useful mod to the few frustrated Khammanders out there, but apparently there were more than a handful.
Now it appears this mod is no longer required.
With update 238, UWE introduced a new “redeployment” behaviour to cyst placement, and have included an inner radius circle much like the one in this mod.
So, unless there are other cyst placement issues that this mod could address, it has served its purpose and will no longer be developed.
Thanks to all those who enjoyed it while it was useful.
>doesn't make cycts easier to place
>gives evidence supporting it making it easier to place cysts

So dipshits like you don't spam them over and over again, forcing the marines to waste time and resources to deal with your little exploitative ass.
When you are in NS2 on the main menu, select the 'Mods' menu and 'enable' the mods you wish to apply to your game. Done.
How Download that mod's?
This mod is not in protest of the new placement restrictions, but rather it is a reaction to the large amount of guess work that placing cysts now demands. Yes, one can learn the thresholds with experience, but having had the opportunity to help a few new Khammanders, I can tell you that the learning curve is quite steep (especially with the sometimes counter-intuitive feedback).
I've played more than a couple of games where there is no Commander for a few minutes until someone reluctantly takes command, so anything that can reduce the barrier to getting new Commanders up to speed is something I support.
It all comes down to experience, I find. People will adapt to the new system in due time.
Besides, it only takes perhaps five to ten seconds to repair a cyst chain unless it is actively still being attacked, at which time you should be directing your team to deal with it.
Still, I support this addition.
Venrez: I'm sure that at some point better visualisation of cyst placement will be a feature of NS2, but until then, with the trickier placement restrictions, I wanted to make things easier on Khammanders. To be perfectly honest, I haven't had a lot of opportunity to play as Khammander since the update rolled out, however I did have a short match and I noticed that an unusually large amount of it was spent fighting with the game to allow me to place cysts. I wouldn't call it impossible, but it was more frustrating than it needed to be.
During some matches, pesky lone marines will break cyst chains far away from the action, and repairing the damage needs to be done ASAP so that your attention can return to more important matters than whether a cyst is too close to another cyst. It is currently needlessly fiddly.
It was basically impossible to have an unrepairable cyst chain before the update, and now it seems we have the opposite situation, where if you are not careful, you can irreversibly cut off large tracts of infestation.
TL;DR VERSION: It's way harder to place cysts than it needs to be, and you can get your team into real trouble.
"This has made cyst placement more difficult and in some cases almost impossible."
Impossible? Where? I've had no trouble adapting to the current changes. In some areas it requires you to place your cysts closer together -before- approaching the necessary Resource node or critical spot around a corner for defence, for example, but apart from that it is never 'almost impossible', implying severe difficulty.
