How do I enable this mod?
SrslyTony 4 Dec, 2022 @ 10:19pm
Started using this in last month. This is amazing! Awesome job!

@Javvae I'm sorry for the delayed response. I have not been able to recreate your issue on my own system. Do you perhaps have a theme installed that might be causing the issue? I'm just taking a guess at this point. You may want to try uninstalling any other MODS to see if the problem persists. If it does, you may want to approach the developer about the issue.

In the last couple of months there must have been an update that has caused the "save", "cancel", and "edit" buttons in the notes to be replaced with just a purple bar. The mod is still usable but you have to guess which button you're pressing and hope it's "save" and not "cancel"

@zarker99 You would need to talk to the developer for that feature. There is no way to mod it in.

Is there a way to change the note colour? Like for characters, I like to group them with tags so it'd be nice to be able to change the character colour by roles, etc.

Just downloaded this add on and I'm in love. Thank you so much for creating this epic note making add on! I already loved Nimble Writer because I didn't have to have my collection of notes scattered around me, now I love it more because I can lessen how many freaking notes I have to fumble through! :steamhappy:

@AMKid I've never tried. That would be a program core function, and therefor un-modable.

It really sucks, that you can't siply copy or export text from Customizable Info Notes like you can do it with simple Text Notes. Written pretty much of them until I realized that I coudn't do it.

@crf thanks

@ swatkats radical squadron , I, imagine the "item", note would suffice. Story specific info, into "subplots"? Most Title text fields in the suite are renamable, so, you could just find the best note fit, then name the notes things like "TANK - Note 1, TANK - Note 2", etc.

hmmm was wondering how i should do a note for a note able object like a tank
writeing a story were they spend alot of time in some cases in one and need t to write some notes for it

I flip between fullscreen and windowed. I have scribbles and artwork outside the program which I refer to, so having it side-by-side tends to be easier. I was hoping to import a lot of it into the notes section, but although it's about 90% there, there are some things I just prefer to have out in an image viewer, like a topo map for action scenes etc.

I'm loving the mod for the most part.. It's a shame NW crashed on me, that was what made me come here... I understand if it's an app issue, but you know what app writers are like with mods: "Try it without mods and tell me if it still crashes" etc :/ :)

Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, if you could reduce the text size, and remove the minimum width on the text boxes, that'd fix much of the scrolling and resizing I found I had to do!

Cheers!

@ Dark Blue Monkey

Are you using Nimble Writer maximized to full screen? The author's intent was that it would be, and many of the issues you descibe (re: sliders, sizing etc.) I've only seen become an issue when working with the program in windowed mode.

I'll look into the character font size when I have some time free up.

As for the crash, you need to contact the program author about that. That would be an engine issue. My code only utilizes functions provided by the program.

Seems like a great idea, but there are a few things which break the "flow" of Nimblewriter:

- The text fields have minimum sizes in the notes pane, so often I'm scrolling left and right, or moving sliders about to read all my note text.
- Sometimes the date fields don't scale properly if the pane isn't wide enough
- The headings of the character note is HUGE compared to everything else, so unless your character's name is "BILL" or something, it won't all show in the pane unless the the pane is super-wide
- The sizing sliders are weird, allowing you to size your writing panel to be "under" the other panels.
- It causes NimbleWriter to crash. I was editing a scene note, and clicked another note by accident, when it asked me if I wanted to switch, I clicked "No", and got an "OutofRange exception" and it died, losing all my notes to that point.

@ Imperious

Misunderstood.

Click the full-screen icon. At the bottom of the left menu, there is a slider bar for sizing the notes section (bottom left of your screen). In the upper right is a slider for resizing the padding between screen elements.

@CRF

Its fine. It has bothered me since I bought Nimble Writer. Every video or Screen shot of the notes field I see appears as tho it is bigger than mine. The suite is awesome. Thank you again.
CRF  [author] 26 Dec, 2017 @ 8:08pm
@ Imperious

I choose and set the field size when designing the template. Unfortunately there is currently no support for dynamically adjustable fields, so I try to match the static result to an amount that makes sense to me in each note type. My needs and yours may not always be the same, but I hope any discrepencies in preference are negligable.

Thank you for the compliment. :)

How did you get your notes field to be so big?
BTW love this add on.
Ahmira_Zaraelys 22 Nov, 2017 @ 1:52pm
This is an amazing mod, thank you for its creation! Just started using it this morning and am loving all the options available. <3

Thank you!
CRF  [author] 14 Nov, 2017 @ 4:27pm
@ Triosky

Thank you for the compliment. This add-on will not overwrite prior content. If you uninstall it, any notes you created with this mod are likely unaccessable for editing, and may not load at all. Notes are defined by templates, and if the template is removed, then the format info can not be accessed. I have not tested this.

So long as the author of the Nimble Writer does not change how calls are made (highly unlikely - it would break his default notes as well), your notes created with this mod will continue to display correctly as long as the mod remains installed. I will not remove it from the workshop, even if I should choose to discontinue using Nimble Writer at some point in the future, or the author makes this mod obsolete. Your notes will remain safe.

IF you discover any issues, PLEASE report them in the discussions tab. Thanks.

Uprate if this mod is useful. ;)
Triosky 14 Nov, 2017 @ 1:44am
This will not overwrite pre-existing story notes? And if I were to unsubscribe from the mod, would the notes that were saved in this format remain and convert back to the original NimbleWriter format, or would they be deleted?
This is really, really nice! I'm shocked the developers didn't actually add this in as a feature anyways. Thank you!

I'll try download it :D thanks for your sharing

@ Worldshaper Kayto

Thank you for taking time to both comment and rate. It really does help a mod's viewability for like-minded people looking for similar features.

Also, thank you for the kind words! :steamhappy:
