No a display is not needed.
The basic premise is that it will override you thrust to push you up to the set height, then turn off (should at least) one to allow the ship to lower itself if over the set height.
Frankly the hover engine mod would be a better thing to get as this doesn't really work at speed.
I appreciate all the feedback and I will leave it up, but do not expect an update as I don't see a real use for it.
Or did you need it to do something in particular beside remembering the station gps (since they dont move unless you are doing the orbit scripts) and going to that?
Can you make something that will "remember" a connector on the ground and one in orbit (or two in orbit) and fly between them, docking, undocking, and returning? Cargo transport cycler.
I have autominers on an icemoon and trying to find a way to auto transport the ice to a refuel station in orbit.
