i placed all under the surface.Maybe place 1 cube by door for depth reference and to find the door faster
Oh, and for the repair dock, if you swap it with the central block of the landing platform it does not compromise structural integrity.
Btw: expanding the landing platform, from personal experience, should be done in increments.
(posting a detailed description, it might help someone starting who cames across it)
e.g.: go out horizontally 3 or 4 blocks on a corner, then create a column deeper than the lake floor by holding the mouse button (I had some cases in which the support column crashed down even if it looked like it was resting firmly on the ground).
Rinse and repeat how many time is needed (and in the directions you want) and only after you're sure the support pillars are actually supporting pave the floor. (you can check structural integrity by holding N and selecting the appropriate options in the menu that pops up)
