    • Play as José Rizal
    • Begin the Event "The Good Doctor and the Unknown Lands"
    • Meet Yamatai
  • ~Japanese localization for some Events has been adjusted

Explanation

Small update this time, just tidying up some bugs and text issues. Thanks to everyone who's been enjoying the civ as it evolves. I've also added in an event for José Rizal, since he's supposed to receive an event for every civ in the game - I'm not able to use the 3D-type event screen until the asset editor is available, so it's just the normal event format for now.

  • ~Game text adjusted to specify Gold yield from supporting Endeavors

Hashihaka Kofun
  • +Influence adjacency on Culture Buildings now persists into future Ages

Civilization Changes
  • ~Unique Civics now display the correct icons for their abilities in the Civics Tree

Narrative Events
  • +All Narrative Events have had their prerequisite conditions fixed (should no longer activate for other civs)
  • +The event "Send me a Letter, Please" can now activate with the following conditions:
    • Play as Yamatai
    • Research the Wei Embassy II Civic
    • Lose at least two Infantry Units in combat
    • Be in a war with less Support than your opponent
  • ~The event "The Tumulus" now correctly shows its secret option only if the city has Clay Pits
  • ~The event "The Queen to Come" now correctly requires a city with 10 total population

Explanation

Big thanks to everyone who has reported bugs and issues, the database is super confusing when it comes to Narrative Events so it looks like I made a couple of oversights with the prerequisite conditions. It should be all cleared up now, and the event "Send me a Letter, Please" can at last actually meet its requirements - so consider that effectively new content in this patch!

Outside of Events, I've made a couple of minor changes to the game text, also based on feedback. The Unique Ability, "Jisai" Tradition, and Taifu buff from the "Wei Embassy" Civic all now specify the amount of Culture/Gold they provide. Gameplay-wise, the Hashihaka Kofun should now keep its Influence adjacency ability going in to the Exploration and Modern Ages.

Explanation

Some adjustments have been made to Yamatai's Unique Components based on feedback, namely nerfing the immense Influence gain possible from both the Taifu and Hashihaka Kofun. I'm still getting a feel for this new and unique yield, and it seems like it's better to respect its scarcity even for Influence-focused civ designs. The Hinamori's passive +1 Sight on Rural didn't quite get their vibe across - I want them to feel like sentries you station at the edges of your settlements to watch for potential invaders. To this end, I've given them the Lookout ability from the Scout, which means you can set them up in watchtowers wherever you like and also gives them some handy early-game utility.

Yamatai was mostly designed before the update that added Rice as a resource, so the Silk/Wet start bias has been replaced with Rice/Wet. Rice implicitly means wet tiles, so hopefully you should be spawning in spots where you can make good use of the +2 Food on Wet from the Civic. You'll probably still want to settle Silk for the Culture yield, and to fire the "Silk and Mulberries" event, so be sure to go looking for it.

Aside from that, icons have been adjusted to better match the Firaxis formats. And new Narrative Events! I was planning to add two to bring it up to six, but happened to think of a fun one about rice wine as well. Hope you enjoy stumbling across them.
