I dipped a leg or two into the C# pool this last week and coded a very cool and OG plant and found the widely used/pulled active terrain.dll (which came out of Rimfactory , a mod by Spdskatr who looks like he's no longer mods) so now you mnemonic pits are better

a VERY exciting list of settlement names i worked hard on. There's no doubt in my mind you will love them as much as I do.

Neural Lagoon now glow and push a tiny amount of heat, sorry for the error/dissapearing your old lagoons (Dev mode new ones, not cheating if you have my permission) Found out about the widely used activeterrain.dll orginally created by the rimfactory guy, for the glow to kick in you have to save and reload after placement (I think this is the least laggy way to do glow, maybe?)

Did my own OG plant code and created some anemone plants for your kwiver's skerry, special grow conditions are listed in the description

You don't plant these plants but access them through sucking up kwiver eggs (Giving you something to do with failed eggs). Currently i have it so they give kwiver the recovering food posioning hediff for a few hours and regular pawns normal food posioning


Balance/Tweaks

Kwiver comfy temp range goes from 6c-54c > 10c-64c

Kwiver pawns power increased = less raid numbers

Walls take less flame damage (but still catches fire easily if not keratin, think of it like a slow burning candle.)

Stucco Now Diggable, easier lagoon placement

Lagoon is a bit cheaper

Lagoon and Mnemonic Molasses are more flammable, this is like keeping pools of gas around.

Some resource stat changes, smaller stack sizes being most notable + wealth adjustments with the goal of boosting colony wealth in mind

Keratin wall cost x1 more shell and paste

Doors increase cost from 2>3 protein

Wall spawns all cost a bit more protein

Can wear some core belts + use the lances

Start with 10 more protein

Patched core game clubs to be makable from protein paste (so you can mass produce shitty clubs as a resource dump if needed)

Can make "woody" stuff from keratin (It's a pretty okay material all in all)

Mnemonic molasses counts as fabric, enjoy your gross t-shirt (really good versus blunt but otherwise pretty awful, bad verus heat b/c it's muscles)

Added a 1x1 sleeping spot to the kwiver tab

New random paste assets

Changed the little aliens to better match the new kwiver style. Old tiny guys were pulled from a remake that had a different design style to it. This current little guy will get refined over time, important thing is i have the body defs and addons modeled.

Balance/Tweaks

Eggs are now limited to 1 a tile. Even though I really like the look of the 6 stacks the 3 days to hatch / 1 egg layed a day rate + pawns auto stacking causes really unfun stuff. 1 stacks promote a more interesting base layout (like using them as lights) too and since you don't pump out a massive amount of eggs it should be manageable.

Can only lay 1 egg at a time rather than 1-2, lays eggs a bit more often on average

Kwiver eggs slightly more nutritious and sell for a tiny bit more.

Did some behind the scenes stuff to make kwiver much tougher (Birthday hediffgiver is a small part of the change so new pawn or wait for birthday) + changed some health numbers and part coverage % (more factors go into pawn death then i thought, it's not just based off missing parts and bleeding)

You can now amputate a kwiver shells (which grow back) for a piece of keratin. Gives you a way to convert medcine into something more useful since Kwiver regen and have a high immunity.

Tentacle amputation gets you protein paste (kinda useless)

Amputate one of your 2 brains for mnemonic molasses

Tiny Kwiver mental breaks shouldn't happen anymore, or at least it'll be super rare


Protein + Molasses deteriorate faster when in the outside in the open, should help clean the map up

I broke regeneration last update by switching it from MOHARRS YORHG.Giver to the core's birthday, idk why it doesn't seem to work using the birthday giver, now fixed by going back to YORHG (Part of the reason I updated again today rather than later).

Immune to food poisoning (hit a small snag with MOHARR so I changed how HEDIFFS apply, old kwiver will lose "Regeneration" unless it's renewd with a birthday or fresh spawn)

Added a bit of randomization to Kwiver's resource spawn (Not meant to change balance so much as it's meant to make the spawn feel less mathmatical and more natural)

Can now place floors under Kwiver walls (Because kwiver walls are random spawn this will help you keep your base looking nice & well blended)

Lowered protein wall health

Door construction skill minimum removed (Didn't mean to leave it in). Cost increased.
Door construction skill minimum added to Mimeo caves and caverns. Costs increased for both.


Changed wall/floor colour a bit, sorry if it annoys you.

"Brain" is now much, much harder to hit going 0.1 > 0.004 and has been renamed "upper ganglia". Hit chances shifted to eyes.

BaseBodySize increased from 1 to 1.2 (Increases a few good stats but mainly makes them easier to hit)

Mass goes from 75 > 90

Fist damage raised from 9.2 > 10.2, Surprise attack bonus on fists raised from 15>16 (The lowest kwiver enemy "Newly sprung" spawns at a rate of 2x compared to most other factions lowest pawns, but are naked and weaponless as a default, i've considered this fact in this buff.)
Headbutt damage raised from 5.6 > 7.6 (Meaning they'll be more trouble to handle as resisting, armless, jawless prisoners)

ResearchSpeed lowered from 0.6 > 0.3 (Having poked around some other races i was surprised to see 0.6 wasn't very low for a ~stupid~ race, WoW taurens are 0.5!)

CookSpeed lowered from 1 to 0.8

MedicalSurgerySuccessChance lowered from 0.8 > 0.65 as their base

MedicalTendQuality lowered from 0.8 > 0.7

Lowered base MeleeDodgeChance by -0.1

Removed the darkest skin shade since it looked weird on the new heads
