Vanilla Game Rock Hard

Description
When I first started playing Reassembly, I thought the vanilla game was far too easy. To fix this, I made the Vanilla Game More Hard mod and it was good. ...However, I aways planned on making another mod that ramps things up another notch. ... This mod is that mod. Vanilla Game Rock Hard.

What this mod does NOT change
This mod does not edit, add, or change any blocks or block stats. All the blocks and factions are still perfectly vanilla, so your old ship designs are safe, and anything you build with the mod active is still vanilla.

What this mod DOES change
  • Almost all the default ship designs have been replaced with more competitive 'Agent type' designs.

  • The Ai flags for the factions have been edited to make them less peaceful and more aggressive.

  • The regions.lua file has been edited to allow more large ships to spawn. You'll now see ships up to, and in some cases over 8000P

  • I changed the locations of some factions in the galaxy to better reflect their strengths.
    1. The Sentinels now take their rightful place at the center of the galaxy.
    2. The Tinkrel occupy the regions near the center that used to be Sentinel.
    3. The Crystalline faction is moved to the spots that used to be Tinkrel.[/ul]

  • The magenta Competitor faction now contains a selection of ships by designers from the NMSS tournaments[www.nomoress.com] ... plus ED209 because I love his stuff.

    Actual difficulty
  • I don't expect experienced players to have and trouble with this, but it does make your galaxy much more interesting.
  • I held back on making any faction too strong (fairly easy with Tinkrell and Sentinels). I wanted to keep the gameplay fun.
  • I did not edit the Terrans at all. I figure that's the faction that most players are playing.
  • I did use thruster stacking liberally, but no hyper-stacking of any other parts.

    Compatibility
  • This mod edits the region.lua file extensively, so it's not compatible with the Bigger Map mods.
  • Any faction mods you're running should be above this one in the load order.

    Error!
    I edited the Ai flags for the default factions, so you should see 10 errors in the mod menu. This is totally ok. It's just a warning. Nothing is actually wrong.

    If you want more ships in your game, I highly recommend Conga's +Ships mod.

    If you haven't already tried it, I also recommend Splinter's Graphics Overhaul mod. It just makes everything look sweet and nice.

    Updates:
    8/8/16 - Fixed spelling errors in tips.
    Fixed the Crystaline base so it spawns now.
    Fixed the Bee Hive so it works properly and regrows correctly.
    Changed the Spikey plant faction plants to use more spikes.
    Tweeked regions.lua so more ships spawn for the building sectors.

    8/6/16 - Added competitor ships to faction 10.

I thought about it. But the problem is that the balance between the factions would become really bad.The Sentinels and Tinkrell would be totally OP, especially if you take advantage of the F4 solar panels. Other normal factions would not survive at all.

I'm working on the Star Wars mod right now. Maybe after I finish updates to that.

Nope. They will conflict and the top one will win out on any similar edits. ...it would make a mess of your game if you loaded them all at the same time. pick one.

If you want more difficulty, add More Agents.

What happens if you added all the difficulty mods? Would the all fractions become godly?

Yes. Some things with the new Test mode still trustrate me though, like when you get mated against Flies or Spikey plants. ... Agent fleets can also get chosen as a faction to match against. ... I think the game is actually using Factions that are near to your position when you run the test. ... Wish I could control that stuff. :)

I'm actually a huge fan of the more-difficult ships in Test mode. I wasn't anticipating that little benefit, it just hadn't crossed my mind. First time I saw one of my poor ships go up against a Fury 29 I was delighted.
