Load Replay

Description
Quick UI mod to enable the replay feature in non-Debug builds.
Also adds a button to the replay interface to hide the controls and start playing.

Pretty much everything else was already made by Firaxis.
Since this was only shipped as a dev feature, you may encounter crashes or softlocks.

Recommended to be used in with -allowconsole enabled so you can use the debug camera (Delete)
to fly around in the replay with a game controller.

Some useful console commands:

ReplayToggleUI
ReplayStepForward
ReplayAutoplay

There are other commands, but they either don't work or crash the game.

It works in WOTC still. The replay goes to a point where you save the game in a mission, then you get the scoreboard. I like this, as it's the best we got for a replay of a nice mission.

WOTC compatible?

Still trying this out, working for the most part. But for some reason, it won't show replays all the way through to the end of the mission. Before it reaches the last turn, the replay stops and pulls up some kind of scoreboard. I wanted to record the mission all the way through. Can anyone help me?

This is really great! Is there any way to save a mission's replay for watch later other than just creating a new save? I can't really get a replay of the entire mission because once the mission complete screen comes up, I can't save the game until I'm back at base, and that save won't do anything when I click the "Load Replays" button. If the mission complete screen included a "Save Replay" button which could then be found when you clicked "Load Replays", that would be a great improvement! (Note that I am not a modder and just a player, so I have no idea how difficult implementing this would actually be. This is just what I would like to see from this mod.)

Small development if it's of any use, turns out the game is also consistently crashing when using Serial. I was trying to get a recording of an insane spree my sniper went on and it crashes when I press the step forward button after the first kill.

Rad mod. Though I wish autoplay didn't crash on me. Not sure if it's a mod conflict or the game being wacky, but I can run a replay step by step which is super cool in itself.

Hey, really good work on the mod! I just watched a replay on WotC and it worked perfectly, although it doesn't show HUD to be able to say how well squad is equiped. Is there a way to export from a savefile a video?

Could someone clarify, does this add a 'replay mission' button, as in 'restart the current mission', or is there actually a cool 'replay function' hidden in the game that allows you to watch what happened in your previous mission? Thanks!

The problem is the replay mode I'm getting through ModLauncherWPF.exe is different to the one in the screenshots. Maybe they updated it because of Challenge mode?

There are three buttons, one does nothing(looks like restart), one is play/pause, and the other is fast forward. There wasn't a Stop Replay anymore so I couldn't rescue the save that way. I don't know if that's something you can fix.

I've yet to pick up WOTC so I have not been able to test.

This also means I don't yet have access to the WOTC SDK - it's pretty much the full game, so understandable that it's tied to buying WOTC.

I don't know if this works without the SDK installed, but you should be able to access the replay feature without the mod using the Debug Menu:

Right click on XCOM2 in Steam
Select Properties
Select Local Files
Click Browse local files
Navigate into Binaries > Win64 > Launcher
Run ModLauncherWPF.exe directly from there

You can also create a shortcut to ModLauncherWPF with some helpful parameters like -nostartupmovies -allowconsole -noredscreens.

You need to run it that way, rather than editing Launch Options through Steam, because Steam adds an extra parameter (-review IIRC) which forces the game to use the non-debug versions of the main menu.
