Airdrops

Description
Airdrops

This mod allows you to spawn airdrops containing valuable loot or animals (in a living or deceased state). A clear marker will appear on the map showing the drop zone. When the crate lands, a signal fire will light up at the exact location to help players locate the drop.

Key Features
  • Advanced Sandbox Customization:
    • Set the drop frequency your way: from 1 hour to 1 whole year.
    • Progressive Drop Timer: Dynamic interval adjustment based on a multiplier (-5.0 to +5.0). Each airdrop can make the next one more or less frequent!
    • Configure spawn-near-player settings (chance, min/max radius). The airdrop can now land anywhere on the map, no matter how far from the player! (try a radius of 1000–2000).
    • Visual Effects Control: Choose drop site effects - none, fire with lighting, smoke, or both for enhanced immersion.
    • Explosive Cleanup System: Configure what happens when airdrops expire - explosion with sound, zombie spawn, aggressive animal spawn, or nothing.
    • Effect Power Scaling: Adjust the intensity of cleanup effects from subtle (1) to maximum (200) for dramatic finales.
    • Turn off the map marker for a true challenge and hunt down the airdrop before it vanishes!
    • All sandbox changes (presets, defaults, intervals) apply in real-time without a restart.
  • Diverse & Configurable Loot:
    • 11 Loot Presets: Medical, Survival, Tools, Weapons (with ammo), Materials, Food & Drinks, Kitchenware, Junk + Accessories + Bags, Clothing, Animals, and Books.
    • Animals Preset: The crate includes hay and animal feed. Exactly one animal (live or corpse) will spawn 2–3 tiles from the crate.
    • Mod-Friendly: Loot is drawn from ProceduralDistributions for maximum variety and mod compatibility.
    • Full Control: Override loot lists via
      AirdropCategories.ini
or use custom tables for coordinates and loot distribution.

  • Immersive Gameplay Mechanics:
    • Your character says one of five random lines when a nearby drop occurs (EN/RU).
    • Game speed returns to normal on airdrop touchdown.
    • If sleeping, your character will wake up (only if not drunk and fatigue < 80%).
    • Visual Effects: Configurable drop site effects - fire with lighting, smoke, or both for up to 2 in-game hours.
    • Explosive Cleanup: Airdrops now explode when their timer expires! Choose from explosion, zombie spawn, or aggressive animal spawn effects.
    • Radio messages alert you to the airdrop zone. A beeper shows your distance — follow the signal!
    • Daily Schedule Broadcasts: Automatic radio notifications from 03:00 to 06:00 every day, informing you of the time remaining until the next airdrop. Messages are fully localized with proper grammar for all supported languages.

  • World Interaction & Dangers:
    • The airdrop crate can be smashed open with a Sledgehammer.
    • Zombies may appear near the airdrop site.
    • If the "Bandits" mod is active, bandits may appear near the drop.

Progressive Timer Examples
Based on default settings: Airdrop Frequency = 5%, Min Interval = 24h

Progressive Multiplier
1st Drop (after 24h)
2nd Drop (after +24h)
3rd Drop (after +24h)
4th Drop (after +24h)
Effect
0.0 (No progression)
24h
24h
24h
24h
Constant interval
+1.5 (Slower over time)
24h
60h
150h
375h
Each drop becomes rarer
-1.5 (Faster over time)
24h
6h
1.5h
1h (capped)
Each drop becomes more frequent

How it works:
  • Airdrop Frequency (5%): Each hour, there's a 5% chance to spawn an airdrop (if interval allows)
  • Min Interval (24h): Minimum time between airdrops (base interval)
  • Progressive Multiplier: Modifies the interval after each successful airdrop
  • Formula: New interval = Current interval + (Current interval × Multiplier)

Note: Intervals are capped between 1 hour (minimum) and 8760 hours (1 year maximum).

Save Compatibility & Airdrop Cleanup

The mod maintains full save compatibility — installing or removing it will not corrupt your existing saves.

Airdrop Lifecycle & Cleanup:
  • Configurable Timer: Airdrops automatically expire after a set time (1-8760 hours, default 24h).
  • Explosive Cleanup: When the timer expires, airdrops can explode with sound, spawn zombies, spawn aggressive animals, or simply disappear based on your settings. During explosions, nearby players will be knocked back and damaged, potentially suffering fractures, wounds, and other blast effects depending on their distance from the airdrop and the explosion power.
  • Effect Power Control: Adjust cleanup effect intensity from subtle (1) to dramatic (200) for the perfect finale.
  • Manual Destruction: You can destroy airdrop crates instantly with a Sledgehammer before they expire.

Upon mod removal:
  • Automatic Cleanup: All mod-spawned airdrops are scheduled for automatic removal after a total of 25 hours (a 24-hour cooldown period + a 1-hour buffer).
  • Manual Cleanup: You can destroy the airdrop crates instantly in-game before removing the mod.
  • Fallback Behavior: If ignored, the airdrops will eventually despawn via natural game mechanics. This may trigger a single, non-critical LUA error but will have no impact on gameplay or your save file.
Note: Your saves remain safe at all stages of installation and removal.

@NooBuddy - yes this mod is compatable with existing saves
NooBuddy 25 Oct @ 10:07pm
is it working on an existing save??

Noice! It works. Also your kind explanation will be helpful to many people. Do you know there is smokeflares in original mod? It's an item to mark an airdrop coordinates in my position. I've used this item to check loot tables are working in debug mod, but it isn't working i think. If you don't use this type of things, than remove it. Anyway thanks for the update.

@E-Worm — restored functionality of the original loot and coordinates tables. Added a new feature: LootQuantityMultiplier (default: 1.0), which also applies to file-based tables.

New features:

- Radio messages on airdrop spawn and hourly updates — stay informed about fresh drops!
- Radio beacon — emits a <beep>-<beep> signal as you approach the airdrop (frequency increases when getting closer).
- Improved stability — smoother gameplay with fewer crashes.
- Extended spawn interval — now you can set longer periods between airdrop spawns (customizable range expanded).

Hey, if it worked before and now it doesn’t — that’s not your fault, unless said otherwise.

I'll fix this very soon, and provide new feature (new feature almost ready)

https://github.com/AnimeSosiska/random-airdrops/wiki

First ,I read this RandomAirdrops wiki. I make the item list like your preset, but I customize EXACT ITEM LIST and quantity and spawn chance by using AirdropLootTable.ini. If i want moded ammo, than put this ammo boxes in the AirdropLootTable.ini, and set quantity and chance. If i set quantity 4 and chance 20, than one ammo box is extracted with a 20% probability. So if I'm lucky I can get 4 ammo boxes, if not i can't get anything. Maybe I just don't know how to use
AirdropCategories.ini, but I'm not sure if these detailed settings are actually possible.

Could you clarify what exactly you're doing with AirdropLootTable.ini?
This helps me to better understand what we want to achive?
E-worm 24 Oct @ 7:44am
Thank you, Some people like me want to use cutomized exact item list, not just categories. Your abandoned mod still support AirdropLootTable.ini, so I will use that.
