Compact Armadas – Amazing Space Battles Compatibility Patch

This mod makesAmazing Space Battles fully compatible with Compact Armadas. Atlast i hope so as i didnt have time to test yet hehe..

It automatically includes the “shorter battles” adjustments from ASB – and more. Even with the official shorter battles add-on, ASB still alters some gameplay balance (e.g. shield regeneration).
I’ve reverted those changes to keep Compact Armadas as close to vanilla balance as possible.

⚠️ Do not use shorter battles or ironman with this patch.
(Compact Armadas doesn’t support ironman anyway, though you can edit a savefile to enable it – guides are available.)

Compact Armadas (better performance!)

Your shorter trails / particle add-ons

👉 If you really want longer battles, load Compact Armadas before Amazing Space Battles.
This undoes some of my balance changes, but expect things to be less balanced overall. But only swap those 2! Fix always have to come after amazing space battles, same for their addons.

Notes & Fixes

While working on compatibility, I also addressed some issues:

Autocannons had a missing texture = entry. Fixed – they should now display and work correctly.

Bio-ships: some components were missing the Biogenesis patch code. I’ve added it, which may fix movement or behavior issues players reported.

If you encounter bugs or odd behavior, please leave a comment under Compact Armadas (my main mod) – I check there more often.

@blumpo idk but every other mod could potentially blow up something. That would mostlikely have to be a mod that has the common ship_behavior (i think its that, something with behavior atlast) folder

I have the recommended load order yes, i do have gigas too, i wonder if that messes with anything?

@Road66 {FCX} and @blumpo would you share your mod load order if its not too big? Did you atlast ensure the order i mentioned here? (1. ASB 2.CompactA 3.Fix 4. ASB shorter trails 5. ASB more particles)

HELLO, I have exactly the same problem as blumo, 2 corvettes are trying to destroy a mining drone, but in vain. The drone is going around in circles and my corvettes too, endlessly.

@Whitecrow you would have to check if i didnt change the variables in component templates biogenesis weapons txt file (its only that, that you would need)
if its just for the autocanons, that fix should be in the gfx folder, and you can copy that without any problems

If I wanted only fixes for ASB stuff do I need to just grab component template files and projectiles? Would I need to edit them further?

@Avan this kind of is the equivalent to that i guess. i did change behavior back to vanilla. (This can be bypassed as stated in the recommanded load order section, by switching both mods places in load order. but since you dont want this anyways, just get the mods as shown in the load order and you should be good)

I use the iron man variant because I found the longer battles and improved behaviors less important than the new visuals for weapons.

@blumpo i too realized strange fihgting behavior. I dont know if it might be better if i just completly overwrite Amazing space battles fighting behaviors to vanilla, so its only the visuals of that mod applying. i dont know if its that what people mostly want from that mod, their effects, or if people actually prefer their combat system
