Clean UI B42.12 Hotfix

Description
Compatibility extension for CleanUI mod with Build 42.12

This mod fixes breaking changes introduced by Build 42.12, restoring missing functionality and adding new B42.12 features while preserving CleanUI as much as possible.

Key Fixes
  • Container capacity display restored - Fixed missing weight/capacity info that was broken in B42.12
  • B42.12 Unwanted items integration - Full support for the new "unwanted" items system with vanilla-aligned behavior
  • B42.12 Vanilla container renaming - Full support

Author Collaboration
It's a temporary Build 42.12 compatibility hotfix with @Rocco's approval. He has plans to rework CleanUI later with needed compatibility fixes. The current mod provides immediate B42.12 fixes. Safe to unsubscribe when the main mod updates, though this will continue with QoL additions to stay in sync.

Current Status: Stable (possible minor issues)

Tested with 200+ mods (new game and mid-game) without issues on B42.12.0 and B42.12.1. Still, since many other mods may have B42.12 compatibility problems or silent errors, additional fixes might be needed. Please report any you find in the Bug Reports section.

Known Issues

Compatibility
  • Build 42.12 Only
  • Requires [B42]CleanUI V2.1 mod - this is an extension, not a replacement
  • Safe to add to existing saves
  • Multiplayer/Dedicated Servers: NOT TESTED - Do NOT report MP-related issues (not planned untill B42 official support).
  • Compatible Mods / Fixed Compatibility:

Incompatible / Conflicted Mods
  • Manage Containers - outdated (last update Dec 24, 2024), breaks B42.12 mechanics and CleanUI functionality. Recommended to disable.
  • Eat Smart (EatSmartInt submod prior to the 28 Sep update) - suppressed B42.12 context menu options "Unwanted" and "Unusable in Recipes". Update Eat Smart to the latest version to fix
  • Common Sense - outdated (last update: Mar 7, 2025) and can break item context menus (e.g., corrupts right-click menus on damaged items). Incompatible with B42.12 and has accumulated issues across multiple previous builds. May also cause misleading exceptions that seem attributed to Fashionoid[42].

Feedback
If you find a bug please check if the solution not already listed on F.A.Q. and if not report it to Bug Reports. If you have any other feedback or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment, I would like to hear your opinion!

@Shenpai In short – it’s possible, it just depends on motivation/talent to make a more attractive alternative UI. Any idea is worth sharing. And I didn’t mean to push you into doing it (but if you ever want to give it a try, you’re more than welcome - there’s a big modding community on Discord }:) ) :VBCOOL:

It's fine lol I understand. I was only wondering whether it'd be possible as both mods have their strengths. I've never modded PZ before and only recently delved into playing the game proper after having it sit in my library for so long.

TL;DR, I don't know how to mod PZ and have no vested interest in learning to do it yet either lol.

@Shenpai I think that would require a significant rework of Tetris, since Clean UI and Tetris are fundamentally mutually exclusive. Both mods took weeks or even months of dev time to reach their current polished state on the workshop, so combining them wouldn’t be a small task.

It’d need a volunteer with solid skills and motivation to redesign the Tetris UI in this style (that’s not me :D). You can share the idea on the main mod page with Rocco - he’s the main author behind the current UI layout and its visual design.

For me, PZ modding is just a hobby - I usually contribute to mods I personally use during gameplay, and Clean UI already fits my preferences well, so it’s not something I plan to work on.

I'm wondering, is it possible to make this compatible with Tetris Inventory? I really love the look of the UI and it would make Tetris Inventory more attractive.

Hey @GRrRrizzzLY , good questions!

1. I’m still using [B41/42] Known And Collected for book and VHS tracking, so I’d recommend trying it as an extended version of what vanilla currently offers - it just works already and well integrated in CleanUI. But I’ll take a look at adding support for the vanilla-added icons as alternative.

2. Regarding “Set Unwanted” as a button - probably it technically possible, but we’ll likely need to wait until Rocco has time to update the main mod. He was planning a rework, and I’d prefer to avoid doing duplicate work in advance, especially for layout-related changes.

1. In this hotfix - will be vanilla "Watched" property integration? Right now icons for VHS for "UnWatched" and "Watched" - the same.
2. Is there a possibility to add "Set Unwanted" function to the side of item while hovering on it, like near the "Drop"/"Unpack" button?

Thank you for your work, it is great!

@ivmakk thanks for the reply il try to fix it

@McGuigz that’s a misleading culprit in the error message - it’s actually caused by another mod (in 100% of reported cases). You can find more details in “5. I see errors on the RMB context menu in the inventory panel” in the F.A.Q. , and instructions on how to identify the root cause by following the steps described in the Bug Reports thread (you can quickly check it by disabling CleanUI/Fix - if the issue still reproducable, then another mod causes it).

I also have an issue with items on my hotbar with this mod, getting this error when trying to attach a gun to my back "`function: createMenu -- file: ISInventoryPaneContextMenu.lua line # 960 | Vanilla
function: onRightMouseUp -- file: ISInventoryPane.lua line # 1627 | MOD: Clean UI B42.12 Hotfix
java.lang.RuntimeException: attempted index: isEmpty of non-table: null

@kisamei_25 could you clarify which icons you mean? Can you show it in a screenshot?
