Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (2 Mods + DLC)

Description
Mod.io version is available here.[mod.io]

"I hate the look of these new mass-produced Imperator-class Destroyers. None of the artistry that went into the old Acclamators or Venators — even the Victory Twos. So goes elegance."
(c)

History

Forged in the fires of Clone Wars by the best capital shipbuilders of the galaxy, the ship first named the Imperator was bound to never see the conflict it was actually designed for. Despite all the rumors of the prototype ISDs participating in the Battle of Coruscant, their actual first appearance wouldn't happen until a full year later, with Admiral Tarkin's visit of the Tantiss Base on Wayland in 18 BBY. Same Star Destroyer, the Executrix, would serve the future Grand Moff for the coming decades all the way until his demise during the Battle of Yavin. Names such as Avenger, Devastator, Stalker, Tyrant, Chimaera, Death's Head, Relentless and countless others sparked fear in every Rebel fighter across the galaxy all the way up until the end of the Galactic Civil War. Large and powerful, ISDs were designed as modular, and multirole warships, that could immediately bring imperial presence even to the most remote of systems.

But not everything is sunshine and bacta, and Imperial Star Destroyers had their flaws too. Originally designed for massive ship-on-ship battles, ISDs were quite ironically forced to hunt down pirates and fight much more maneuverable Rebel battle groups. Lack of escort proved especially fatal, with many Star Destroyers going down due to a basic lack of point-defense guns. Large crew requirements of these ships also hindered anyone who tried to operate these ships without Empire's recruiting potential.

Ultimately, even despite all the flaws, ISDs went on to live forever. Made in such vast numbers, and being so good at their original job granted Imperial Star Destroyers a long, and very colorful life all the way until the Legacy Era of Star Wars.

Pros: beyond absurd scale, so big that it's guns struggle to have longer range than the length of the ship itself.
Cons: much less of a ship this time, and much more of a weapons platform this time unfortunately.

Mods Used

Mod Name
Reason For Using
Consequences of Not Using
To give this model large and stable hangar doors (subgrids - bad).
You will loose all hangar doors, but model itself will remain in tact and pressurized.
To equip this model with movie-like armament.
You will loose all weapons (obviously), but you can replace them with anything you want.

Additional Notes
  • Programmable blocks are turned off by default to improve performance. If you still desire to use them - access the terminal and toggle the group "Programmable Blocks" on.
  • First and foremost - besides just being a lag machine which is given, this thing is on the absolute verge of being a working ship. Literally a few more physical shapes and this thing will start to break SE physics, so modify it with caution. This is also the reason why interior is so lackluster.
  • Also no extensive +100 people barracks this time. I was barely able to make room for 30 and to be honest - that's still way more than average SE server gathers. That's also why omitted the "Crew" section from the description.
  • Top bridge is for decoration/roleplay only, actual control bridge is much closer to the hull.
  • Hangars are pressurized this time, so if you want to - you can transport troops and service vehicles with comfort.
  • And no, don't ask me to make an ISD-II. It would literally be the same ship with exterior detail remade from scratch. If you want an ISD-II - swap out the main guns for Octuple Barbettes and lower the antenna array (yes, it is actually hinged).

References
  • Ansel Hsiao - General geometry (heavily modified afterwards to better resemble ANH/RO model)
  • A New Hope (1977) - Bridge detailing, trenches, main hangar entry
  • Empire Strikes Back (1980) - Bridge underside (still referencing the ANH model, not the ESB model)
  • Return of the Jedi (1983) - Hangar interior
  • Rogue One (2016) - General geometry corrections, superstructure detailing, hull ridges
  • Star Wars Outlaws (2024) - Engine section, unused TIE Bomber hub

SPECIAL THANKS

Well, that's it boys and girls. "When" has become "now", and I don't really have ambitious plans for future. I don't think I am going to quit - but don't expect anything brand new from me in the coming months. Though wait for a couple of recolors as well as LAAT-I Gen. 3.

I just remembered it's been a while since I've seen a good gozanti ship hit the workshop. Would help round out the imperial fleet considering it's like in the top 3 most common canon imperial vessels alongside the arquitens and imperial/imperator.

@Knight That's one hell of an association for sure.

@pretty b0y Medic I thought about it, and neither of 2 options seems feasible. I can't reuse my old Executor, as it was made up of 5 gigantic subgrids and was entirely powered with Slyke's Singularity Blocks if I am not mistaken. Making a completely new hull, on the other hand, would be a titanic undertaking in a much smaller scale (800-900m tops). Maybe one day I will tackle this idea further, but I have no clue whether SE1 is even going to be around at that point.

@Hydra Daydreamer Thank you!
