Opis
Project Summer car:

Project summer car is an advanced car engine mechanic overhaul mod.

Features:
  • 18 simulated parts types and 4 fluids that all matter for your cars performance when used with Realistic Car Physics!
  • Sport and racing parts to upgrade your cars performance!
  • Supports swaping transmissions and torque converters between cars for different gear counts!
  • Designed to be used with Realistic Car physics to fully support all the different engine and transmission features.
  • Fully capatable with all existing car mods and can be added mid save! Will correctly spawn engine parts in existing vehicles!
  • Sandbox settings for min/max horsepower depending on engine part condition, chance of missing engine parts, etc.
  • All parts have ingame info on what they do. Every part does something!
  • Open or broken windows will result in windchill and reduced effectiveness of the heater/air conditioner depending on vehicle speed. Loss of windshield will result in getting wet if you drive in the rain.

Compatible with KI5, Filibuster and all other car mods!
Can be added mid-save and will work with existing spawned cars!
Not compatible with: Build41 (Please stop asking). NPC vehicles in Week one NPC



Quick Instructions:

Right click on the engine in the mechanic menu and 'inspect engine' to open up the new engine mechanic menu to access all the new parts.
Press V while in a car to access the new dash switch function! Mods can easily add new dashes!

New dashes and new dash features!
Click and hold the ignition key to start the car! Starting attempts take more power with a low condition battery and now draw power with every attempt.


Horsepower, engine quality and engine condition now depends on condition of sparkplugs, pistons, crankshaft, cylinder head. Keep your engine well maintained for maximum power and starting reliability!

Transmissions can be swapped between vehicles for different ratios and gear counts. Transmissions and torque converters will slip when badly worn.

Cooling:
Radiators condition, hood condition, waterpump condition and fanbelt conditin to cooling.
Low headgasket condition causes oil/coolant loss and for the two fluids to mix.
Overheating quickly damages pistons/cylinder head/headgasket/spark plugs. Drive at lower RPM and with less throttle to reduce engine heating. Keep your coolant levels full as well as your radiator, water pump and fan belt in good condition to prevent overheating.


Oil:
Oil matters: Low oil levels or highly contaminated oil (below 30% of fresh engine oil) cause damage to pistons/crank/cylinder head while running. Drain some oil to check oil condition! Motor oil will become used motor oil with time and no longer protect your engine.

Oil filter condition helps reduce how fast oil gets contaminated and turns into used engine oil. Driving without one will result in total loss of engine oil in a few seconds. Badly damaged oil pan will also cause oil loss if you run the engine. Piston/cylinder head/crankshaft condition sets how fast you contaminate and burn oil. Old worn engines will need extra frequent oil changes and top ups.

Car Spawning:
Optionally control how your cars spawn! Exactly what condition range they spawn in, how likely it is to spawn in high, medium or low condition, chance of parts being missing depending on condition (Perfect for 10 year later runs!), survivor vehicle status and if its in a junkyard/traffic jam!

Other mods you need to make this mod better:

Make sure your using Realistic Car Physics with this mod or some of the simulated features won't work!
It fixes many vanilla bugs and provides mods access to how cars handle! Mods can't even change how much horsepower a car has without this mod due to a vanilla bug.


Starlit library! It helps this mod access your current throttle value for more accurate engine heating and fuel usage.

Beefcake Food Overhaul, it makes all foods useful by rebalances a ton of stuff about food in the game with many sandbox options! Also adds a boredom system so you can't just eat the same food over and over in the mid/late game. As the author of this mod I highly recommend you try it out!

update, I'm a little slow and should have considered reading the instructions on the other mod, that is entirely my fault for wasting anyone's time reading that lol

I'm not really one to comment on mods and such for a game but I am just a tad confused. While everything is working to the custom dash's and custom parts, i keep getting a pop up that states realistic car physics isn't working correctly? am i doing something wrong or whats up? over all a really good mod to have though

The new UI is awesome! My only concern is the texture a little too low resolution and i cant read the fuel, battery and temp symbols.

The Vanilla bug is that HP set by engine quality (that you see in the mechanic menu) doesn't matter (except in reverse). That is the same engine HP that most mods use. Also vehicle HP set by engine quality is reset to stock when you leave the car.. also reported on that page.

Hence why I wrote realistic car physics, to fix that and a lot more bugs with vehicles and give proper control over the various parts of the cars engine.

Hopefully, by time MP gets released the horsepower bug in PZ will be fixed. Reply to the above forum post if fixing this bug matters to you.

Thanks for taking a look into it and clarifying as well. I have been checking engine stats on a vehicle I used for a month in game and it didnt seem to make much change at all. So I was curious what did or did not work. I may try to adjust the sandbox stats.

I intend to use this mod in B42 MP when it comes out. Car physics would require manual installation, and that is pretty much never gets done by other players in servers. I understand that it is a pz limitation. But I wanted to give my reason why for not using the full mod.


Perhaps give "restore engine quality" a look. Maybe you can get some inspiration on its coding to better use your parts system in vanilla?

@Cyrisa: Due to a vanilla bug that I have reported and still has not been fixed, no mod can change individual vehicles effective vehicle HP without a vehicle java mod like Realistic Car physics. Power steering, brakes and the transmission depend entirely on the realistic car physics mod.

The oil system, charging system and overheat works in vanilla. So does the air conditioner/heater, and low engine condition causing it to be harder to start and use more fuel.

Vehicle tuner looks like it adjusts the base vehicle and not the individual vehicles, so that should work with project summer car.

So I have been running this with just vanilla without car physics. I really have not noticed any real change of part conditions or oil loss using default settings.

Does this work with vanilla at all? Other than the menu opening to swap parts and the parts themselves.

Also parts and oil themselves are pretty rare loot spawns. I rarely see them in any mechanical shop and I have mechanic loot spawn set to high.

@Jelke if you are using the "common sense" mod. It is majorly broken and streaming constant errors. The author has health issues and won't be updating it anytime soon. Best to look around for alternatives.

That’s b41 version of filibuster vehicle mod on your link. Project summer car works only in build 42 and compatible with filibusters vehicles.
