Description
A resource reset mechanism designed for static maps. Once enabled in the Advanced Options, it will reset map resources.

Are you someone who loves playing realistic historical maps, yet constantly frustrated by their unsatisfactory resource distribution?(Yes, we’re talking to you, official historical maps!)And haven’t many realistic maps built on static map frameworks ever taken advantage of the rich resource expansions available in the Workshop?

Deserts should have camels, the Arabian Peninsula should have dates — but they don’t! California should have gold — but it doesn’t! Compared to random maps, static realistic maps are practically a resource desert — an isolated island in terms of resources!

The Static Map Resource Reset mod is a solution to this very issue.

By re-running the resource generation process at the start of a game — a step that static maps normally do not go through — this mod enriches the resource distribution on static maps.

(See attached image for comparison.)
The Static Map Resource Reset mod significantly improves the eastern European region of the official Europe map — transforming it from a pure "prison spawn" into a genuinely playable area.

More broadly, this mod focuses on enhancing terrain-based gameplay in realistic historical maps, using resource generation mechanics to compensate for some of the shortcomings found in static maps.

Considering the rich systems available in random map generation, you can even think of a resource-reset historical map as a random map with a predefined outline. (?)

Currently, resource density can be adjusted via the "Resources" setting, which should still apply to the reset mechanism! (In theory it should work, but I noticed the resource options are all hidden — I’ll need to dig into this further.) The mod also provides an option to preserve the original resource layout of the static map (though in that case, it’s recommended to lower the resource density).

The Resource Reset option (located between "Map Type" and "Map Size" in setup) is disabled by default and must be manually enabled when needed.
-------------------------------
Reaching 30 likes will unlock updates with additional configurable options for the resource reset system. This planned enhancement thanks to the work of Harmoney in Diversity , whose expansions on map generation mechanics enable more tailored, map-specific resource distribution.

If you'd like to try something new, feel free to test out the Apry's Bronze Age Map . (Though the official realistic map remains the one most in need of support.)

I hope this mod continues to improve your experience when playing on realistic historical maps!
