Description

Enhance your RimWorld gear with the Artisan's Touch!

Inspired by the Terraria prefix system — now in RimWorld, complete with the reforge mechanic as a re-roll recipe!

Artisan Touch adds affixes to weapons and apparel. In this mod, affixes always appear as prefixes (before the item name, unless is changed), following the familiar Terraria-style convention.

Bring your RimWorld weapons and apparel to life with Artisan Touch!
Add personality, power, and style through prefixes that modify stats, improve gear quality, and make every item feel unique.

From the Quick Revolver of a skilled gunslinger to the Juggernaut Armor of a fearless warrior — every prefix changes how weapons, armor, and tools perform.

Balanced for vanilla RimWorld gameplay — place this mod last in your load order for best compatibility.

Key Features
  • Prefixes everywhere – crafting, loot, NPC equipment, and trader stock.
  • Full customization – enable or disable each prefix, control quality & tier rules.
  • Meaningful stat modifiers – damage, accuracy, cooldown, durability, beauty, and more.
  • Smart rules – each prefix only affects compatible weapons, armor, or apparel.
  • Consistent & fair – the same prefix system applies across the entire RimWorld map.
  • Create and share your own prefixes!

How does the Artisan's Touch prefix system work?

The higher a colonist’s Crafting skill, the better the tier your gear can roll.
By default, any weapon or apparel with at least Excellent quality can receive a prefix if the crafter has Crafting level 15 or higher.

Each prefix comes in one of four tiers:
  • Tier I – Legendary exclusive. Maximum bonuses, perfect for end-game weapons and armor. Requires Crafting level 20.
  • Tier II – Strong improvements. Requires Crafting 19+, Masterwork quality or higher.
  • Tier III – Moderate but useful boosts. Requires Crafting 17+.
  • Tier IV – Small bonuses or minor drawbacks. Requires Crafting 15+.

Number of prefixes by item quality:
  • Legendary → Up to 3 prefixes
  • Masterwork → Up to 2 prefixes
  • Excellent or lower (down to Normal) → 1 prefix
  • Poor or Awful → 0 prefixes

High-quality gear in the hands of skilled crafters will always roll the best and most prefixes possible.

Unhappy with your prefix? Just re-roll it!

RimWorld apparel can be re-rolled at the Electric Tailoring Bench, and weapons at the Electric Smithy.
Perfect for fine-tuning your Legendary or Masterwork gear.

You can disable prefix in the config as well

Re-roll cost by prefix tier:
  • Tier 1 → 1000 silver
  • Tier 2 → 500 silver
  • Tier 3 → 250 silver
  • Tier 4 → 100 silver

Easy Configuration

  • Control everything from the in-game mod settings:
  • Enable or disable any prefix
  • Set prefix count by gear quality
  • Adjust tier limits & skill requirements
  • Separate spawn chances for NPCs, traders, and loot

This is the default config intended for the mod, you can touch whatever you want, if you regret just hit revert to defaults:

Compatibility & Saves
  • Safe to add to existing RimWorld saves.
  • Non-destructive Harmony patches — no vanilla defs overwritten.
  • Currently untested with Combat Extended and Yayo's Combat.

Planned Updates
  • Complete CE compatibility guide.
  • Enforce load order (place last).
  • Improve HP scaling for Hardy prefix (use “Repair Items” in the meantime).
  • Full add-on support — create and upload your own prefix packs (Terraria-style add-on in progress).

FAQ

What's the difference between Infused and Infusion 2?
Artisan Touch stays close to vanilla RimWorld gameplay without perks, abilities, or flashy effects (like Infusion 2).
Instead, it focuses on pure stat modifiers, inspired by Terraria’s prefix system, but tied directly to colonist Crafting skill and item quality.
Prefixes are guaranteed — not fully random like Infused — and the re-roll recipe is available from day one, similar to Terraria’s Goblin Tinkerer.

Does this mod add new items or recipes?
No extra gear clutter. Only two recipes exist: re-roll for apparel and re-roll for weapons.

Can I control which prefixes appear?
Yes. The settings menu lets you toggle individual prefixes, control counts by quality, and set tier rules (Tier spawning for quality, ammount of prefix per quality, Tier access by pawn skill level).

Is it safe to add mid-save?
Yes. Adding Artisan Touch to a current save is safe. Removing it will only strip prefixes from gear.

How do I re-roll a prefix?
- Apparel → Electric Tailoring Bench
- Weapons → Electric Smithy
Silver cost depends on the current tier.

Can I make my own prefixes?
Yes!

If you can lend me a log in dev mode showing the error with your mod list and if possible Wich affixes cause this... I can make a comp file, please report in bug reports! <3

Amazing mod Yui! Sadly some affixes tend to break the inventory.
For example, half the Inv screen is pure black or translucent with no info at all.
For those cases you have to unequip the item and basically forbid it. Perhaps some mod incompatibility, not sure.

Thank you for the suggestion! I’m happy to say this will be included in the next update—the Affixes Update. I’m currently focusing on major optimizations and new features. This was my first mod and I was pretty inexperienced back then, but now I feel confident enough to ship a big upgrade. Like the one to Impactful Skills

This would be amazing if it had a setting to set a chance for a crafted item to get affixes. Like for legendary, you get 5% for T1, 10% for T2 and so on.

Thank you! Yes I know the shelves, I personally don't use them because I feel they are quite expensive and slow (in my opinion) I miss the spacer lamps from vanilla expanded :C
freackyfreac 21 Aug @ 11:22am
i have said repair shelves. they take 1 heal nanite serum to build (i got 4 by now) and add 1hp per ig hour to the items on it. is usually enough. i just wanted to let you know of this issue :)

Hi, freackyfreac! Yes, that’s a bug. I’ve been investigating it—adding certain mods seems to break the HP re-sync after assign the affixe (it’s a common issue with the Hardy prefix). I still working in the new update for this mod to correct this and do a QoL improvement. In the meantime, I suggest using a repair mod to work around it. I personally use this one: Repair items
