Description
NOTICE - It is possible that the dreaded "bad reference count" bugs lurks in this mod as well. As usual, I recommend installing my Mass Effect Backgrounds mod locally (a .vpk file in hl2/custom folder) to fix/prevent any bugs and glitches caused by default HL2 Background Maps.

This mod replaces the default HL2 Citizens, Refugees and Rebels with suitable replacements from the Mass Effect Trilogy.

NOTICE 2 - Female citizens with dresses may experience "tearing" of the fabric near the feet. I tried to mitigate the issue, but there wasn't really a room for better weightpainting, without destroying it further.

Credit goes to the following
- Bioware and Electronic Arts - for developing and publishing the Mass Effect Trilogy.
- The Flying Demo-Mann - porting the models to SFM, giving me permission to use them.
- piehavok - for armored krogans
- haxxer
- Squiddy
- Ninja
- Kali_A

Dude I just found these mass effect mods and honestly they bring the biggest stupid smile to my face while replaying half life 2 again. You are fucking legend and I hope you have a amazing day.

Also any possibility on a Mass Effect HUD in the future?

Because Half Life 1 is believed to have taken place in the early 2000s then the changes for a Bulgaria pack will have to tie to that date such as any Cold War era models still common back then or any local Bulgarian brands. Here are some possibilities for example.

SMG- Arsenal Shipka
Pistol- Makarov PM (Russian, not Polish)
Shotgun- Benelli M3A1
Grenade- RG-42
RPG- Strela 3 can be included in Bulgarian pack
Revolver- Nagant M1895
Ravenholm sign- Pernik sign
Victory Mine Russian sign- Chelopech Mine Bulgarian sign
Nova Prospekt sign- St. Anastasia sign
Combine soldiers and metrocops- Real life PMG gas masks with MARS Model 78 body vests.
Rebels- Same armor model but no PMG gas masks.
Citizen trains- Skoda Class 44 Locomotive
Muscle car- Lada VFTS
Airboat- any 90s model Jetski
Scout car- Lada Niva
Garbage props- Vereia for milk cartons and Astika for beer bottles for example.

This is a more light and vanilla idea that I have thought of unlike your Mass-Effect and PRL 81 packs but it's still interesting. That would be to make the game's setting more accurate to Bulgaria instead of a mix of random Eastern European countries. Some authors have already made such mods such as Bulgarian signs or the City 17 skybox now being a texture of Sofia instead of New York City. A region accurate pack for Half Life 2 would be very cool even if it doesn't drastically change the game so let me know what you think.

Rebels- SEAF
HEV- Helldiver Armor
Antlions- Terminids/Bugs
Zombies & Headcrabs- Illuminate/Squigs
Combine- Cyborgs/Autos (especially Autos for the synths)
Weapons (mainly from HD2 since that game does have more 3d models for them)
Crowbar- CQC-5 Combat Hatchet
Stunstick- CQC-30 Stun Baton
Pistol- P-2 Peacemaker
Magnum- P-4 Senator (The only magnum in the game)
SMG- SMG-32 Reprimand
Pulse Rifle- LAS-16 Sickle (energy based AR just for context)
Shotgun- SG-8 Punisher
Crossbow- CB-9 Crossbow (Originally was the R-6 Deadeye until I saw there was a crossbow for HD2)
Grenade- G-12 High Explosive (looks about as close as the HL2 grenade as possible)
RPG- MLS-4X Commando (only launcher that has laser guidance)
Emplacement- MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun (it was between this and the MG-43 Machine Gun)

So, I might have an idea of the next big project (assuming that's alright, and hopefully the mentioned DMCA situation has officially settled down) and I know Forlorn said they like to do game's they've played but how would tackling a Helldivers themed project?
Cursed Hawkins 11 Aug @ 12:55pm
@Ivan
Let's hold off porting mods anywhere until the current ongoing DMCA situation is resolved first, mods on mass are being falsely DMCA flagged and multiple games including Garry's Mod are currently affected.
Ivanovsky 6 Aug @ 7:30am
I liked your mods, will you port them to Garry's mod?

@Edward Chrome

This might be the "bad reference count" error. To my knowledge and testing, it occurs when you launch the game and one of these Background maps load: background01 and background06.

There is no fix to that, besides what I've written at the very top of the decription. That is, to install my Static Backgrounds mod locally (a .vpk file in hl2/custom folder), since it prevents those maps from loading entirely
