Playing as a tactical operator with an indestructible vehicle to use is indeed a unique experience in this game.
The problem is that Project Zomboid's developers never reached the final development stage, it’s been over ten years and with every new build, potential and creative mods tend to break. Modders always suffer from this issue, but we still do it for the enjoyment, both for ourselves and for everyone who plays.
Enjoy your time.

@Emi, About the B42 "Project RV Interior" fork : my module can technically run with it, but that fork already includes custom RV support in the Sandbox settings for non-RV vehicles (for example, the 3×2 interior layout). You can simply add the desired vehicle ID in the Sandbox settings to add RV support for it.
I could create a plug-and-play module for B42 so you wouldn't have to adjust the Sandbox settings of the mod manually. However, the interior layouts in the forked version differ from those in the original RV Interior mod, and vehicle support in Build 42 is still limited.
For now:
'67 Cadillac Gage Commando supports Build 42.
'84 Cadillac Gage LAV-300 does not support Build 42.
Build 42 support for this module will only come once the original RV Interior mod itself is updated, then this module will be updated as well.
The "67 Commando & LAV-300 Mobile Fortresses" mod depends on the framework of the main "RV Interior" mod and only adds RV interior support for specific unique vehicles.
This module cannot be updated to B42 unless the main "RV Interior" mod itself is updated first, once that happens, this module will follow with an update.
Enjoy your time.
Regarding your request for a 4×2 interior layout, this module was created with a fixed balance of comfort and mobility, which is why the current layout size was chosen and will remain as it is.
Also, I don't take commissions, mods are meant to stay free for everyone to enjoy.
Thanks for understanding.
