Born from a wish to sit within the final moment of my unbecoming; frozen in a frame of fracture
wanted to get it out before my trip away from home; enjoy your cinematics!

Technicals:
basically we smoothly slow the game down until it looks frozen, and at any point you can speed it back up to see what happens to your corpse.
Further Technicals: host_timescale cannot freeze, because that would stop all think ticks from running, effectively soft-locking the simulation. Garry's Mod doesn't allow anything below host_timescale 0.01, so to compensate, phys_timescale (for props and serversided ragdolls) freezes at this point so that most things appear frozen in time. And it's all buttery smooth babeyy


So yes, please get a player ragdoll handler if you want the physics to completely freeze your corpse like in the gifs, something like Reagdoll or Serversided Death Ragdolls






Convars:

cinematic_death_enabled - Enable or disable the cinematic death system
cinematic_death_start - Initial Slowmo Speed, player just died
cinematic_death_end - Full Slowmo Speed, slowest timescale
cinematic_death_duration - Delay Until Full Slowmo, just died > [DURATION] > Full (Slowest) Slowmo
cinematic_death_respawn_delay - Minimum Delay before Respawn Input is accepted

cinematic_death_curve - Time Interpolation Style

cinematic_death_trigger - Host timescale must drop below this before physics slowmo begins

cinematic_death_phys_end - [Phys_Timescale Full Slowmo], since we can't completely freeze host_timescale, we'll freeze physics entities during Full Slowmo; I felt clever on this one.

cinematic_death_phys_duration - Phys_Timescale Slowmo Delay, calculated strangely; when host_timescale dips below cinematic_death_trigger, we begin gradually slowing phys_timescale until they both reach minimum.

cinematic_replay_speed - Timescale Speed when holding Replay (W key)
cinematic_replay_block_window - Block Replay Input until after this window
cinematic_replay_phys - Return Phys_Timescale to <your_value> when holding Replay; 1 is Unfrozen
cinematic_replay_transition - Delay between pressing Replay before reaching Replay Speed

cinematic_npc_enabled 1 - Enable cinematic slowmo for NPC/Nextbot deaths
cinematic_npc_curve ease_in_out - Interpolation style for NPC cinematic slowmo

cinematic_npc_start - Initial slowmo speed when NPC dies
cinematic_npc_end - Final slowmo speed
cinematic_npc_duration - Duration of NPC slowmo transition
cinematic_npc_fade_delay - Duration of restoration to normal timescale

cinematic_npc_chance - Percentage chance (0-100) for NPC death slowmo to trigger
cinematic_npc_min_damage - Minimum damage required to trigger NPC death slowmo (0 = no minimum)
cinematic_npc_damage_threshold_type - Damage threshold type; 'final' (killing blow) or 'total' (accumulated damage)

cinematic_npc_classes - "nextbot_here,snpc_angry_mother" - Comma-separated list of entity classes to include if they aren't already being detected
