Description
- SCOPE -

The main focus of Mycology is to implement vanilla-esque extensions to the nature of mushrooms in the game, as well as offer a unique support-oriented aid to combat with new glowing mushroom familiars. This mod aims to have taste in general gameplay, but also holds utility and incentives for players to pursue more developed mechanics, such as cultivating the aforementioned mushroom familiars, nicknamed Mushions.

- CONTENT -

As described under SCOPE, general additions and a unique mechanic will be implemented in regular gameplay in the most vanilla-friendly manner possible. Additions included currently are:

Mushion Cultivation
Mycology adds a unique farming system that allows new Mushion Seeds to be planted and grown into Mushions, new support-oriented familiars* which can be interacted with, initiating a lifetime/cooldown for the Mushion as it follows the player, periodically supporting in some of many ways, buffs which are entirely dependent on the type of Mushion.

>> NOTE that, by default, up to 3 Mushions can follow the player at once, and the effects stack.

*Familiars will be the term to describe a new category of classless summons that aid/benefit the player in combat without ties to specific damage types or weapon attunements.

In order to grow Mushions, the player must plant at least three Mushion Seeds together to form a Mushion Colony. Mushion Seeds are purchased from the Lone Mushion, a new NPC that spawns within the Mushion Haven Biome (currently located as the first glowing mushroom biome closest to spawn), and can only be planted on Tilled Mud. In order to till mud, the player must use the new Mushcythe, crafted with a sickle and 15 glowing mushrooms at a workbench. Player-created Mushion Colonies will only begin to grow if the following requirements are met:

There are at least 3 Mushion Seeds planted next to each other (i.e. forming a Mushion Colony).
Each Mushion Seed is respectively planted atop at least a 2x2 space of Tilled Mud.
There is at least 2 blocks high of space above each Mushion Seed.
There are no light sources (such as torches) within a moderate range.

>> NOTE that the growth progress will, if not matured, reduce every tick one of the requirements is not met at any given time. This means, should any interference occur, you may have to secure these colonies in a safe place! Also keep in mind that the three seeds necessary can be of any variant, encouraging some fun mixing in cultivation.

Mushroom Variants
Alongside the existing mushrooms in-game, there will be new mushroom variants littered around their respective biomes, such as Hellcaps for the underworld, Icelium for the Tundra, and Toadstool for the underground. Outside of environmental aesthetics, these mushrooms can be harvested and used for crafting new types of Mushion Seeds that grow their respective Mushion!

Accessories
There are currently three accessories the player can obtain, one being a combination of the other two. The Glowing Salve is an accessory that increases the effectiveness (buff + heal) of Mushions, which is bought from the Lone Mushion, and the Sporepack increases the max Mushion count by 1. Combined at a tinkerer's workshop, you get the Glowing Field Kit, which combines the effects of both accessories into one.

On generating a small and medium getfixedboi it immediately crashes with a "Major engine crash" (multiple instances of System.InvalidOperationException: Begin has been called before calling End after the last call to Begin). On small it didn't even create a world, but on medium it seems to still create a world despite crashing?
I created two gfb worlds (both medium on classic with random evil), one prior to installing the mod and one after with no other changes made to my modlist, and only the latter crashed.

for the toadstool spawnrate, we can lower the frequency easily, and making sure the player tp'ing far away doesn't perish the mushions shouldnt be too troublesome... however, for gfb, do you have any other details you could provide (crashes immediately upon generating, crashes when loading the world, crash/error log includes the mod, etc.)?

Yummy mod, and I love the moonlord mushroom effect. It crashes when you try to make a getfixedboi world, and if you bring in mushion seeds over from another world a single worm can wipe out ALL of your little buddies in under a second. My only complaint though is that the toadstool spawnrate seems way too high. Any patch of bare dirt in the underground just gets overrun by toadstools in the span of a few days.

yellow everyone! HUGE thanks from the myco team to everyone that has subbed (1000+ !) and checked out the mod! just wanted to drop by to say that mycology has a whole lot ahead of it, and we are working on it at a moderate pace.

i do want to note though that we are taking this up as a passion project, so condolences if development feels slow!! we promise to deliver in our first update, and we've already got a scope for after that too. while we're full of ideas, we'd love for anyone to suggest features!

it is also planned to make a public discord alongside our first update for even more insight, whether its to report bugs or view development. in the meantime, ill go ahead and touch up the current page a bit; stay tuned.......

good point, we'll probably update it with pictures soon, and if not at its current state then it'll definitely have some pics for our first major update. (although that likely won't be for a little while)
