Description
Jusblazm's Flecktarn Bandits
This mod provides Bandits wearing modded clothing from Flecktarn Gear.

Because I wanted to make these bandit clans quickly, I wrote a script to generate random bandits from a predefined list of clothes (Flecktarn Gear with a few vanilla items like socks, underwear, and weapons). Due to the random-factor of the script some bandits may look weird, though I tried to refine the script enough to make it not as bad.

Clans added are meant to be seen and enjoyed, so by default they have a large window of settings. Feel free to modify to your liking, however be aware that settings will revert on every update*.
*If you really want to adjust the settings and keep them permanent, you can save your custom clan settings in your local Zomboid file. It should always overwrite the mod, since local is loaded last. For details on how to do this please visit my GitHub from the link at the bottom.

Updates
I plan to release a new update on the 2nd of each month. This update will replace the current batch of bandits with a brand new batch. This will not harm your saves, nor will it affect currently spawned bandits. Freshly spawned bandits will be wearing gear according to the new list. This will provide some, hopefully noticeable change to extended saves.

This mod has a slightly higher chance to break than my other integration mods, due to the fact that I had to extend some Bandits NPC functionality with equipment slots created by J&G and KATTAJ1. I put some securities into the extension for some predictable updates that may come, so that if Bandits makes my extension redundant, it hopefully will not cause issues. However, much like my other integration mods, if Bandits, the mod(s) this relies on, or Project Zomboid update and modify item definitions, this mod will likely break.

Future Plans
  • A handcrafted set of bandits
  • Lore bandits

Compatibility
Absolutely no mod conflicts with two caveats:
  • someone uses my naming convention for their own integration.
  • A unique ID generates a dupe (Wikipedia: the probability to find a duplicate within 103 trillion version-4 UUIDs is one in a billion)

Known Issues
Certain hair and beards clip through helmets. This is a KATTAJ1 Clothes Core issue.

GitHub Archive
I will be keeping an archive of each update's bandits.txt and clans.txt files, so that if there is a set you really like, you can continue to use them even after the mod updates and moves away from them.

Permissions
I created a simple extension for Bandits NPC that allows bandits to wear the custom equipment slots provided by Flecktarn Gear. The item IDs belong to Jordanal and Galodar's Flecktarn Gear, the BodyLocations belong to Jordanal and Galodar's Flecktarn Gear and KATTAJ1's Clothes Core, and Slayer's Bandits NPC reads the text files. Both Flecktarn Gear and Bandits NPC have the default permissions of Credit where it's due, so I am extending their permissions. Be sure to credit them for their hard work. [theindiestone.com]

Sorry for the delayed response, Trxnbolonia. September's update will include an undershirt for the J&G bandits so that they have a shirt on in addition to their uniforms.

If they don't have a shirt on that is which is rare for them to have from what I've seen but anyways just a minor issue worst case scenario ill just have to do it manually
Trxnbolon 4 Aug @ 3:22pm
Alright thanks and yea the bandits all have the jacket slot in the bandit creator filled but sometimes the jackets are open which shows their chest's

Realistically you should not need to resub every time, but I know for games like dayz the workshop often only updates when it wants, so I can't say for 100% certainty.

As for the shirtless thing, is this when you open the bandits in bandit creator for the first time? If so, it's a bandit creator/project zomboid issue trying to render all 60 bandits at the same time. If you back out to the menu again then enter again they should be fully dressed. Unless you're talking about them having the open shirt with nothing underneath.

@Jusblazm hey thanks for these collections just wanted to ask, do i have to unsubrcribe, relauch the game and resubscribe to your collections every time you update the bandits? and also just as a quality of life suggestion, would it be possible next time you change the bandits to update the script so that they always have some sort of shirt/top on? its quite funny seeing a fully kitted out shirtless bandit and putting their shirts on manually is painful especially for dozens these of bandits and due to how glitchy the bandit creator menu can be. Anyway thanks

Ohhhh ok ok. Cool I’ll update then! I appreciate your work homie

It was a me issue. I had a mod id mismatch for all of my J&G integrations as well as my LEM integration. I just pushed an update which stopped it from happening on my end, so we should be good now.

Its definitely a bandit creator mod issue, not anything you can control. Every time I adjust a option on a clan, it erases all of the new clans I add.

and now i just broke it from adjusting a clan :steamhappy:
