[The 4.0 update added a new feature to the planet UI - the date that a planet was colonized. Unfortunately it defaults to 2200 for all starting colonies, which is immersion breaking and unrealistic.

Features
This mod adds more grounded and realistic colonization dates for a wide of range of starting planets for better immersion, including;
  • Advanced Empire Colonies
  • Fallen Empires
  • Primitives
  • Remnants
  • Habitats
  • Lost Colonies
  • Shattered Rings
  • Origin Subjects (Hegemony, Federation)

Compatibility
  • NOT SAVE GAME COMPATIBLE - this will not work on existing saves. A new game is required.
  • Should be compatible with any mod.

Amazing, thank you for the rapid response and update lol, it's greatly appreciated

Not at all - I've actually just updated the mod to support that. It should also support Remnants colonies from Distant Origin correctly now.

I intend to come back to add support for some other origins added by common mods a bit further on.

Would a specific colonisation date range for Planetary Diversity's "Interplanetary Settlers" origin domed colony be an unreasonable request?

As it currently stands, the domed colony that you spawn with in that origin appears to have its colonisation date defined by the general "Catches habs + any other potential artificial starts" part of the better_colony_dates.2 event, meaning that it shows as being colonised hundreds to thousands of years before the start of the game, when realistically it'd be somewhere in the range of 10 to 50 years

You'd be able to check for the pd_habitat_start_colony flag that the colony starts with, meaning there won't be any error log spam from you checking for a nonexistent planet class when PD is disabled (planet class placeholders don't work due to the due to the DUPL bug)

Either way, thanks in advance for any response and thanks for the mod, despite its small scope I like the extra flavour that it adds to the game

Its funny that I was thinking about this everytime I opened a Planet's screen and saw that Colonized date, I was really surprised they didn't have like the ability to hide those dates for Fallen Empire and Homeworlds, and add some RNG nonsense to Primitives other stuff

I'm just glad that SOMEONE else thought what I was thinking

Standardish colonies.

There is the Remnants rework from Distant Origin, which also has a lot of interactions with 'new colonies.'

There is also Basic Ordinary Origins which has one Origin called the Gate, which is in a similar position I believe to the Astral Rifts Origin World.

There's another pair of mods that some called More Origins Mod by Malthus, and Origins Expanded by Askil that haven't yet updated.

@BroncoXeno2035 what sort of colonies / mods do you have in mind? If there's a particular mod you have in mind I can add support for that

Is there a way to make this mod work for actual proper colonies from other mods by making it default to the Lost Colony Homeworld founding dates?

Thank you! That was bugging the heck out of me.
