Bertrand the Brigand, Thieves' Honor

Description
This mod adds Bertrand the Brigand as a new legendary lord with a new faction, the Survivors of Bergerac, for Immortal Empires, The Old World Campaign, and The Old World Campaign Classic. This is an updated and expanded version of Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac (Sub-mod for Mixer).

** Requires Mixu's Faction Unlocker (Mixer) **
** Does NOT require Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac (Sub-mod for Mixer) **

Here's a list of changes compared to Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac.

Lore
Originally a poor peasant in the domain of Bergerac, Bertrand was forced into a life of adventure when the Baron de Bergerac left on a Grail quest and never returned. A skillful bowman, Bertrand trained the peasants of Bergerac to defend themselves from orc raiders. The remaining nobles, in their arrogance and lust for power, summoned a horrible flapping monster that destroyed the castle of Bergerac and ravaged the surrounding town. Bertrand and his trained bowmen (including Gui le Gros and Hugo le Petit) slew the monster, and rescued the Baron's daughter and remaining peasants.

The baron's daughter declared that Bertrand's feat of arms was a worthy errand, as was her right as a noblewoman, and they wed. Having no castle or town left to defend, Bertrand could not be properly recognized as a knight. He and his companions now travel the land, righting wrongs, fighting orcs, and defending peasants.

Mechanics/Units
Bertrand, Hugo, and Gui are recruitable only for the Survivors of Bergerac. Bertrand starts as the leader of a small army with Hugo and Gui starting next to him. If the player is playing as another faction, Bertrand will still start in the same place, and can be allied with, fought against, or even confederated (although there is no instant-confederation technology).

For Bertrand's faction only, Chivalry is replaced by Thieves' Honor and Heroism which represent his reputation with the Bretonnian Lords and peasants respectively. Honor is gained from fighting foes of Bretonnia such as Greenskins and Chaos, knight-related buildings, and certain traits. Paladins are always honorable, Prophetesses are usually honorable, Desperados and Outlaw Chiefs are usually not honorable. Heroism is gained from sharing loot from battle, Healing chain buildings, and certain traits. Honor and Heroism are also lost when declaring war on Bretonnian factions and when raiding. Several new random dilemmas can also gain/lose Honor and Heroism.

Bertrand has access to Crownless Lords, Outlaw Chiefs, and Prophetesses instead of the default Knight Lords. Knight units and Paladins can only be recruited when reaching high Honor. Desperados, a new hero unit, can only be recruited from the Black Market building chain or horde building chain when at low Honor.

Most Brigand and Herrimault units can be recruited from the Brigand Camp or Black Market building chains, or can be upgraded from peasants using the warband upgrade mechanic. Aspirants can only be gained by upgrading Herrimaults with high Heroism. Dishonored Knights can only be gain from battling Bretonnian knights when the player has low Honor, or are added sometimes to the mercenary pool at the beginning of the turn with very low Honor.

Other Bretonnian factions are able to recruit some brigand units including Faceless and Crownless Lords.

Includes all units and mechanics from Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac (Sub-mod for Mixer).

Required Mods
Mixu's Faction Unlocker (Mixer)

Recommended Mods
The Old World Campaign
- Expanded custom campaign map. The larger map gives Bertrand more space/time to interact with Bretonnian factions.

Mod Configuration Tool
- Allows for choosing start location for Bertrand when using The Old World or The Old World Classic, and an option to increase Honor/Heroism gains/losses for a faster access to units or a shorter campaign length.

Expanded Hero Skill Trees Compilation
- The new heroes' skill trees are balanced around the expanded skill trees of this mod.

Optional Mods
Green Knight for Bertrand (Submod)
- Allows Bertrand to recruit the Green Knight when high Honor is achieved (instead of Chivalry)
- also fixes/removes a few references to Chivalry

Bertrand, Thieves' Honor: Crownless Lord Submod
- Allows all Bretonnian factions to recruit Crownless Lords

The Old World Campaign, Classic
- Compared to The Old World map: smaller scope, but equally detailed map

Tabletop Caps: Reborn

Compatibility/Misc
Not save-game compatible. A new campaign is required for this mod to function correctly.

Almost every aspect of the mechanics for Bretonnia have been changed for Bertrand's faction including Chivalry, buildings, units, Campaign army stances, traits, missions, dilemmas, items, units, ect., so this mod may not be compatible with many Bretonnia specific mods. I have tried to limit the more drastic changes (such as Chivalry removal) to Bertrand's faction only, so most mods should still function for other Bretonnian factions.

A version that does not require Mixu's Faction Unlocker: Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac.

If you were previously using Bertrand the Brigand & the Bowmen of Bergerac or my other mods that are included in this mod (such as Bretonnian Friar), you will need to deactivate them to use this mod.
List of my mods you will need to un-sub from:
  1. Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac (Sub-mod for Mixer)
  2. Bertrand and the Survivors of Bergerac
  3. Bertrand the Brigand & the Bowmen of Bergerac
  4. Faceless & Herrimaults
  5. Bretonnian Brigands
  6. Bretonnian Friar

NOT Compatible with:
- Shaman for Albion
- Mods that modify or depend on the Chivalry resource.
- Mods that add new knight units to all Bretonnian factions will not crash the game (probably) but will disrupt the balance and progression of the campaign since they will not be restricted/unlocked correctly.

Thanks to BAGHolder for the UI framework for the warband upgrade system and Mixu for making a slot available for Bertrand.

You need to make sure the mod is actually fully deleted from your computer. If you are using a mod manager you may need to take extra steps to clear your data. If you are just using the default game manager you need to make sure you are clicking the trash can icon to delete the mod completely, not just disabling it.

If that doesn't work go you could try manually deleting the mod files yourself. They are located at: Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1142710\3473395551
