[RWI] - Styx Class Light Frigate

Introducing the Styx-class Light Frigate, one of the latest designs to officially enter the Redwood Fleet. Community member R3LOAD first created this design for the Frigate Competition. Now, after some refits and modifications, the Styx-class Frigate officially joins the Redwood Industries (RWI) Fleet.

Heavily inspired by the Defender-class Frigate, an iconic design of the RWI Armada, the Styx-class fits well into our story (The Colony Universe), connecting major events. Viewers may have seen the Styx-class already appearing on-screen in adventures like “Colony Battlegrounds” and more.

Following the Green Drone War, Redwood’s fleet was severely damaged and lacked active starships due to many damaged or destroyed ships. Needing a cheaper and quicker replacement to protect Redwood space, the RWI Engineering Division designed the Styx-class Light Frigate. Under the supervision of Commander Benjamin Styxson, the class went through multiple trials to find something that was both effective and efficient to manufacture. Commonly referred to as the “Mini Defender”, the Styx-class shares a similar design profile to the legendary Defender-class Frigate.

Styx-class Light Frigates are typically assigned to patrol and escort duties. Given the light armament of the ship, they are designed to operate alongside heavier starship classes, such as the Defender, Phoenix and Daedalus. Still, the Torpedo Launchers onboard can deal a crippling blow to an enemy starship if timed right. As such, Styx-class frigates are typically deployed in small groups to cripple a target while a larger warship takes the flak. Since their deployment, they have become a common sight in Redwood Fleet Deployments.
