[KET] Historical Characters Expanded

Description
History wasn’t built by rulers alone.

In a game teeming with emperors and dynasties, Crusader Kings 3 quietly left the lowborn in the margins — with only 104 historical lowborn characters in its vast timeline. You were lucky to ever meet one. That changes now.

Introducing Historical Characters Expanded, a sweeping mod that adds 640 new historical lowborn figures, each arriving in-game during the years they truly lived. These are real individuals with real stories — now brought to life in your campaigns.

- Expanded biographies rooted in verified historical events
- Illustrative detail embedded in their descriptions, evoking profession, culture, or unique legacy
- A personal quote that echoes the voice of their forgotten journey

Watch as your courts fill with scribes, rebels, healers, and artisans — not nobility, but the people who moved the world in subtler ways.
Historical Characters Expanded is now live.
Let the overlooked be remembered. Let their stories unfold.

F.A.Q
Is this Save Game compatible?
Yes. Characters will start to spawn every end of the year.

Is this mod 100% historically accurate?
No, and it likely never could be. The period between 850 and 1150, specially, has limited surviving records across many cultures, and even historians often disagree on key details. Given that, complete accuracy is not realistically achievable, for this mod or any other.

How was the research for this mod conducted?
Research involved multiple sources, including AI tools like ChatGPT (in Deep Research mode) for compiling historical names, followed by content writing in Claude. While AI played a role in organizing the information, all content was reviewed and selected by hand. You have a problem with AI? Well, you have a problem. ;)

Whats next?
And this is just the beginning. I’ve barely reached 20% of the total vision for this mod. So far, most coverage spans 867 to 950, and only about half the cultures are represented. But I’m proud of where it stands now. Future updates will focus on bug fixes, more art, and new character packs to keep expanding this living archive of forgotten history.

I think this mod fundamentally mischaracterizes what it does. As per the discussion thread, none of the "historical characters" in this mod, including the three preview images, actually existed. They're on a similar level of historicity as the game's own randomly generated NPCs. However, unlike the game's made-up NPCs, these are generated by a more sophisticated LLM and have (AI-generated) written bios. This is what the mod should be sold on, not a "historicity" it doesn't have.

As an aside, don't patronize people with "you have a problem with AI? Then you have a problem" when you clearly don't actually understand the mod you made with it.

Got a character called Waldrada Cantatrix today which as per the historical character description should be a female, but the character was male.

I would hate it if the mod died :( it's such a fun mod, it's never gonna be historically accuare, because NPC themself will do random things(Benedictus became the pop).

Also the flavor of who it was is so fun, who bothers what the game NPC is doin when u can find em doing random things and get some history lessions 10/10

Love the mod, though I noticed some characters that's supposed to be female is generated as a male character. And in most cases nearly all Sunni Muslim characters are Maturidi, even when they shouldnt historically, i.e berbers are almost if not all Asharis (due to either being of the Maliki or Shafi'i jurisprudence), the same can be said with most bedouin and egyptian characters as well

I'm a little confused as I try to place this mod in irony - where should it go in the mod load order?
