Farther Farming [0.9.7]

Description
A mod for Farthest Frontier that rebalances various aspects of farming and deepens the composting mechanic.

Changes:
  • Composting scales with field size - spreading the same amount of manure on a larger area leads to a smaller increase in fertility, and vice versa (a 12x12 field will have the same boost as in vanilla).
  • Composting the same field too often leads to diminishing result - a 50% penalty on fertility gain if done in consecutive years, -25% if done every two years, and no penalty if done less often than that.
  • Crop field window shows how recently it was fertilised. Compost yard has an auto-fertilise option to pick the least recently fertilised field.
  • [NEW] Crop field window displays its size and field number (for cross-referencing with field summary window).
  • [NEW] Crop field summary window shows the fertility of every field.
  • Hay produces more than before, and does not lower fertility.
  • Animals eat substantially more fodder.
  • [NEW] Amount of sand / clay needed to change soil mixture increased, and now scales with field size.
  • All but one farmer per field are automatically released from their jobs at the end of the farming season (temporarily becoming laborers), and reassigned as farmers at the start of spring (requires "Auto-Refill Professions" on the population menu to be disabled).

Works with vanilla save files (and vice-versa), but this mod directly writes to save files so it is recommended to make a backup. To fully feel the effect of the changes, it's also best to start a fresh settlement.

Compatible with 0.9.7. Installation instructions. IF YOU ARE PLAYING ON THE 1.0.0p PLAYTEST, UNSUBSCRIBE TO THIS MOD AND USE THIS ONE INSTEAD.

I've created a thread, let's move this discussion there for clarity.

That makes it look like you're running Winter Laborers too? The two could definitely cause issues if both running at the same time. Can you share your MelonLoader logs? They're at Farthest Frontier\Farthest Frontier (Mono)\MelonLoader

also i saw this in CFG file:

["Winter Laborers"]
# Modify how soon before Spring laborers go back to the farms
"Days before Spring" = 5

@Olleus, running almost all of your collection. in addition to MineralSpawnerMono

no quitting in winter at all.

also a user before me reported same issue.

@Axtenar, strange, I've never had this problem. Are you running any other mods? Are you saving and loading in winter between the farmers quitting and being reassigned?
Axtenar 3 Sep @ 7:55am
for 0.9.7 when new season starts, farmers never come back. always remain at 1.

auto refill disabled.

No bother at all. I'll keep an eye on this issue because there was no change between the 0.9.7 and 1.0.0p that should cause this issue.

@Olleus, I was running 0.9.7 when i wrote that report, it seems to work fine on the new 1.0 version, i only just looked into unlocking it today so it seems fine now, sorry to bother you.

@LykanBluePaws, thanks for the report. Are you playing on 0.9.7 or the 1.0.0 play test? Do you have any other mods running?
