Omnia sumptus est ad

During the development of Athena, whilst engaging in some mild corporate espionage (dw about it :3), we realised the one thing that's holding back NXT OS from achieving its full potential: Full Car Control.

Adonis was intended as more of a test platform for in-depth embedding of NXT OS but after a small riot in the MTL Research Lab (my brain), we decided to release it to the public. It is made to be cheap and to prove a point: MTL can make an embedded car system.

Even though it features Full NXT OS R2.5 it only costs 16200 Stormworks non-descript currency.

MTL NXT OS R2.5 Carkit + NXT Functions

The main brains of the vehicle is the brand new, cutting edge NXT OS R2.5 Carkit. Carkit is a project that has been worked on ever since the launch of NXT OS R1 with the goal of unifying every possible car function into a set of deeply connected microcontrollers.
The entire vehicle is controlled by a total of 3 microcontrollers (count them if you want to):
- The Carkit itself
- NXT Functions
- The ECU

NXT Functions

NXT Functions is the only user visible part of Carkit, as it replaces the Extra app on the standard NXT OS install.

It allows you to control the interior RGB lighting, turn on the included heater, activate the hazzards incase you have a skill issue, lock the doors and control the headlights with auto-headlights enabled by default (yellow).

It also displays a top-down view of your vehicle which shows wether or not any doors are open and lets you tap the doors (+hood and trunk) to open/close them. For those who follow MTL this is purely an evolution and condensed version of what the entire dashboard of Athena could do (such compact very wow).

The Interior

The interior of Adonis is made to be cheap, yet look and feel premium. Its main feature is obviously NXT OS R2.5, but it also has a instrument-panel based shifter (with sport mode!), and a beautiful piece of art embedded in the dashboard. (definitely not a 1 AM 5 minute speed-draw).

The Powertrain

Adonis is powered by a 6 cylinder diesel engine, achieving top speeds of up to 170 km/h and only consuming 11L/100km when cruising.
It is controlled by a CVT gearbox made by ZE, modified to be connected to Carkit and to also add a sport mode (hehe).

Thank you for reading all of this marketing nonsense (no judgement if you skipped it :3).
Carkit has been a massive project for me since I had to reshuffle around half of NXT OS to make it work.

For any bugs/suggestions leave a comment below. For support with MTL products contact me on Discord @malinicula. If i'm not asleep i will respond on either of these channels within a few hours.
If you want to use something that I made and upload it to the workshop please include at least an (thing that i made) - [link to said thing] somewhere in your description or you can do more in depth embedding of it (I ain't complaining).
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the in-depth feedback. Cruise control is something that's being worked on, but it takes quite a bit of effort to implement, especially because I need to implement it into 3 different ECUs for different vehicle types, as I have a CVT, 8-Speed and EV ECUs and it's quite difficult to get something that works with all 3.

If there is one thing I would love to see, Buckel's recently introduced cruise control on some of their vehicles, and that's a super nice feature i'd love to see on some of these ones.

I'd also just like to say that the little car diagram in the functions app REALLY reminds me of some early versions of the dashboard car status screen from Pacific Drive, which is cool!

Nice car! Also good to see an advanced infotainment system like NXT that doesn't have a big-ol steering delay as a trade-off, I remember a pretty advanced one that used to be pretty common on the workshop that had that issue, but this one works great and is leagues more responsive!
