MTL Athena

After the release of MTL Chaser which proved the sheer density of NXT OS and how it could be integrated into a small and cheap car, we here at MTL wanted to experiment with exactly the opposite, a big, expensive, plug-in hybrid SUV, and so MTL Athena was created.


In order to control the doors Athena uses a Centralised Door Control System.

When you approach the car the door handles will reveal themselves, getting rid of the old where's the door handle on this one issue that plagues most Workshop vehicles.

When you get in the car, if you want to close the doors you do so by tapping on the desired door on the 1x2 display on the upper part of the dashboard. This can control the doors, trunk, hood and sunroof.


The interior of Athena is made to be complex yet intuitive, its main feature being NXT OS R2. It also has a digital shifter (previously only seen on MTL Chaser), a thermostat, and the MTL RGBC to control the RGB lighting.

The driver has access to a few special functions using seat hotkeys and the buttons in front of the seat:
[1] Light Modes featuring Auto-Headlights (Auto-Low-High-Off)
[2] Cruise Control
[3] Bridge Centering for those cross-continental journeys.
[4] Low Gear for impressive towing capabilities.
Stealth Mode: disables the ICE engine and only runs on the dual electric motors.
Hazards: to warn fellow motorists about your skill issues.

Athena is powered by a custom hybrid powertrain that includes a three-cylinder diesel engine that engages above 50km/h for great high-speed performance and economy and two electric motors that are engaged below 45 km/h for absolute silence and smoothness at low speeds.

On the right side wheel well you will find a fuel port whilst on the left side you will find a cable port for charging, next to it is a small panel that allows you to link the high-voltage and low-voltage batteries in case the low-voltage battery dies.

Whilst Athena is mostly a comfort focused vehicle, it sill has everything you could need to perform Save and Rescue operations.

When you open the driver and passenger side doors you will notice two cute indicators that show you where an extinguisher and a welding torch are located.

In the rear you will find a bunch of useful things as shown in the image below.


This vehicle features the MTL Shifter Module which as of writing isn't functional on multiplayer if the host isn't within render range. I have made a version that replaces the shifter with a regular instrument panel based one here.

Fun trivia fact for the 0 people that are interested what I do: When I initially showcased this vehicle on the Stormworks Discord back in August of last year it was more or less done. I just forgot to upload it for 5 months :3.
