Description
This is an unofficial patch for Age of Wonders III

The last official patch 1.802 of Age of Wonders was in 2018. Still some issues do exist at the present time. This patch is part of the vanilla experience and does not alter the game or balance of the core game unless stated that the developers accidentally forgot or added something not belonging there as an oversight. This mod can also be a substitute for Triumph Studios if they suddenly wake up from their slumber and bring another patch to this game.

Title Screen

In the Title Screen it will still say "v1.802 - Build 123456" and I have not been able to locate where the interface text is to change this. Its possible its streaming the version text through flash scripts and thus it might not be able to yet change this. This might confuse some players thinking the mod does not work. So from now on the mod of Unofficial Patch will refer itself as V.1 and forward for clarity.

Differences between this and the PBEM & Single player Balance Mod

The main focus of the Unofficial Patch Age of Wonders III is on addressing bugs, while the main focus of the PBEM & Single player Balance Mod is on balancing the game. They add several game-changing features, and they add clarity towards abilities and texts. However, they also introduce several things that may not suit several players who want the core game intact, but still want bugs and fixes applied. To some extent, the balance mod also includes Racial Watchtowers and a Racial Reskin mod of Class units, which may be popular mods, but not necessary for the purpose of the mod. On fixes and bugs, the mod only addresses very few bugs compared to this one.

Balancing coverage

Plenty of mods do balancing, and balance is what it is. Something that is subjectively biased, that feels overpowered or underpowered to some. This mod's focus is not balance, nor will it attempt to balance the game unless it is strongly motivated and has reasons for it. This mod focuses purely on tracking down bugs and applying fixes to enhance the full experience without the competitive things in mind of a playthrough. It will adjust things in games that are considered an oversight caused by the developers. A class unit with missing damage or defense in comparison to other class units after racial and class bonus/malus are in place.

Mod Extension

This mod does not interfere with graphical mods such as Racial Class Unit Reskin by Tibbles or Class Reskin Tweaks by That Human and can therefore be used without conflicts. Since those mods will for example directly overlap this one despite the same priority since visual additions works differently in this mod. Mod combination are encouraged rather then enforced.

Credits

Several mod authors have discovered bugs and released mods for individual fixes throughout the years. They will be listed here and changes they have found are credited for this effort since they are included in this mod.

That's triumph studios launcher way of saying that the server is down, sometimes not connected to an account or having no internet. Restarting the game AoW3 launcher often works

Not something related to the patch itself.

I wish I could remove the launcher completely.

Some items like staff with abilities can count as a inventory with the tag "use". Having it in the inventory counts as equipped. Having it in the weapon slot would make it bad.

Is not being to equip a specific weapon a bug? I'm in the main elven campaign, currently with Sundren, Bormac, Nomlik, Reskar, and Julia in my party. I got a mythical weapon called Divine Sceptre of Theologian, and I can't give any of them this weapon.

I get that, but that is a REALLY heavy-handed way to do it. Besides, there are ways to 'bypass' it, although you gotta figure out how. Usually beating them down a bit and/or casting a few spells that decrease morale do the job. Regardless, I still think this is an awful feature. Since it isn't a bug though, disregard my first question.

@urmom

Yeah, its game design. Developers don't like save scuming in their game 😄

Nevermind, I found the answer to my question. It turns out that it truly is baked into your save the moment you start a campaign.

Well Root only effects movement and despite you trap them in net it only breakes their guard. It might be concident and numbers is never changing since its dependent on what I wrote earlier.

Units in guard mode raises resistance and units not in guard mode lower its resistance. And spiders are not super strong units with high resistance.

Units like a spider has no spirit resistance and charm is spirit bases conversion. That means the numbers wont change since the equation is the same in each save

In general, all conversation abilities are in fact quite OP and yeah they qualify as the strongest abilities in the game for a good reason. It has been yapped about since the game was released and well this is not a patch targeted agains balance.

In case I ever...create a "Unofficial Balance Patch" to compliment this patch I certainly would make the converation abilities way less powerful.

Oh and I actually ran into a situation where, for unrelated reasons, I had to restart my campaign, and after running into the same group, charming had 35% and 45% chance respectively, and the rooting ability had 50%. The rooting spell worked every single time first try, without fail, regardless of how many times I reloaded the save, whereas the charming didn't work a single time.
