[B42] Occupation Starting Items

Description
Gives a few occupation specific items to your survivor at the start of the game. Mostly tools based on the skills and needs of the occupation, as well as what they might realistically be carrying. In game the starting items are listed in the description of each occupation when hovering over it in character creation.

All occupations except unemployed will replace the beta starting pistol and its ammo with these items.

Compatible with the Simple Overhaul: Traits and Occupations and Vanilla-Like Traits and Occupations mods! Each occupation in these mods also gets starting items.

The character limit for the mod description is not high enough to list all the items so check in the discussions section to see what items spawn with each class. Below are a few examples.

Fire Officer:
  • Firefighter Axe
  • Firefighter Jacket
  • Firefighter Helmet

Construction Worker:
  • Claw Hammer
  • Mason's Trowel
  • Hard Hat

Burglar:
  • Crowbar
  • Duffel Bag (with stolen valuables inside!)

Veteran:
  • M14 Rifle
  • 2 M14 Clips
  • Box of .308 Rounds

Welder:
  • Welding Torch
  • Welding Mask
  • Metal Sheet

you can create a mod for build 42 that will allow you to choose items yourself to start in sandbox mode, that is, for example, I want to start with a beginner's set and also have a needle, thread and a pack of cigarettes in my backpack, but I just don't know how to implement this?

Never have used the large sets of traits/professions but the RV mod(s) along with Vanvival seem popular RN, any chance we might get a custom Trucker occupation start with Vanvival occupation? I had a bit of fun using an item spawner to swap mine around but would be interested to see yours; been so long since I played anything but Vanilla jobs that came with your packages instead of 37 loaded magazines but I guess some mod traits/jobs don't have anything even the Beta gun start.

I love this mod, it really creates a better difference between the professions.
However I'd love it if there could be a randomized part to it, as I end up counting on what I'm going to spawn with. If it weren't guaranteed for the Welder to spawn with Welding Torch + Welding Mask + Metal Sheet, I think it'd be great for replayability and would also act as a nerf/balance of sorts. The Welder could spawn with all these three items, OR with Welding Rods instead of Metal Sheets ; OR without a Welding Torch ; OR with two Metal Sheets instead of one ; OR with a heavy Propane Tank instead of the Metal Sheet ; etc. So you would still be playing Russian roulette every time you spawn.

this feels like it needs a nerf, especially burglar as a duffel bag from start is strong. But i do like how this mod makes picking over professions a valid option

Is there any chance of you doing a SOTO sub-mod to add proper occupational clothing options to that mod? I just find it weird, that a soldier, for example, doesn't spawn with any sort of military gear. It's especially startling with spawn items, when the same soldier spawns with an m16 but not his uniform and/or webbing lol
