The Human Institute of Having Hands

Description
THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR STUDY!
Welcome to the Institute! With your help, we will soon have learned all there is to know about having human hands!

THIS ROOM IS FOR 2-4 PLAYERS!
This room does not have a singleplayer mode, and must be completed with at least 1 co-op friend. You will be split up during the game, and must communicate through voice chat or the in-game text chat to complete the challenges.

DIFFICULTY & PLAYTIME
The difficulty ranges from medium to hard, particularly depending on how good you are at communicating. The average playtime seems to be around 100 minutes, but your mileage may vary.

FIRST-PLACE WINNER OF THE 2024 COMMUNITY CHALLENGE!
This room was made from scratch in fewer than 18 days as part of the 2024 Community Challenge.

Once again a big thanks to all the people on the Pine Studio Discord, who helped me out whenever I had a problem with building the room. Particularly apa-games and GG3L who did a lot of troubleshooting and made a very handy LUA guide!

Amazing news, looking forward to it! Everyone I have shown this room to has thought it was the best they played on the workshop. The way it requires us to actually solve puzzles together, instead of just doing individual puzzles on opposite sides of a room and fighting over key items, made the game so much more fun, wish there were more levels like this. I am sure the sequel will continue that.

Oh my god, thank you so much for the praise man! I'm making another, but it won't be out before ES2 ☺️

This is HANDS down the best escape room of like any kind I have ever played, let alone in a videogame. If you don't make some sort of follow up to this 2 room at a time coop concept (especially with escape sim 2 around the corner), my life will be significantly worse off. Thank you goat.

Hi 墨瞳tyj12, thanks for the feedback! 2-4 may be a cultural difference, because shadow figures made with your hands are pretty common in western culture. The dog is probably the most well-known. The elephant is less common; the image is the head of an elephant seen in profile, with the horizontal fingers being the tusks, and the fingertips pointing down being the trunk.
For 2-5, the mannequin/ASL parts should be particularly abstract, though clicking the corresponding tiles might be.
Don't forget that you can grab a clue by pressing 'H' if you're stuck on any of the puzzles! Being stuck for ages is definitely not fun :)

Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10. Everything else is pretty good—it's quite well-crafted overall. But I absolutely can't figure out why the third image in levels 2-4 is an elephant . My friend and I got stuck on it for ages. The second image being a dog also feels pretty far-fetched. The logic behind 2-5 is also a bit tricky and abstract. At least for us, the experience wasn't great...

Thanks Chikara! I'll probably make a sequel yeah 😁
