Hide Among The Grass (HATG) is a performance-focused solution to all things stealth.

This mod was originally designed as an alternative to ACSTG but we very quickly realised we could do more.

You will only be hidden when prone or crouched (and standing, if in a building). A variety of factors apply, such as enemies being close or what surface you are on. These can all be configured!

Other AI mods should be compatible. This mod does not touch AI behaviour, it functions around the way AI "sees".

Features
  • The ability to hide among the grass.

  • The ability to revamp your stealth gameplay. Ever wanted a ghillie suit to actually stop the AI from seeing you? Now it does.

  • A logical and simplistic approach to concealment. Shooting from afar with a suppressor? You'll remain hidden for longer.

  • A minimalistic UI to help you know when you are hidden or not. This is ON by default. If you prefer a more "realistic" setting, you can turn it off in the settings.

  • A "simple mode" setting so you don't have to worry about configuring settings one by one.

  • Environmental consideration. During the night or if it is raining/foggy, detection distance will be lowered.

  • Flexible CBA settings, allowing you to change just about anything in the mod.

  • Singleplayer support. Your AI squad will have the same stealth possibilities as you do! (Only in SP)

  • Localization. Note: Only English and Russian have been translated by humans. Feel free to check out our github at the bottom of the page and fix any translation errors!

Questions
  • "Why can't I do X or Y when I'm hidden?"

    This is due to engine limitations. You can bind a key to toggle HATG functionality on/off when you need.

  • "What's the difference between this mod and ACSTG?"

    The main difference between HATG and ACSTG is:
    HATG is faster and better for performance.

    This is by no means a jab at ACSTG - this idea came from ACSTG and I think parts of their solution are quite smart but lack optimization.

  • "Is this mod compatible with X?"

    Generally, yes. This mod was actually designed and heavily tested on Antistasi Ultimate with the help of the Antistasi Ultimate Community[discord.gg].

    It is not advised to run this mod with ACSTG. HATG and ACSTG both achieve similar things and may conflict.

  • "Is this mod clientside?"

    No. HATG uses a custom object which needs to be available on the server or else it will not block AI vision.

    This may be possible in the future in which a different method will be used if the server does not have HATG.

  • "How does this mod work?"

    When you meet the requirements to be "hidden", a box is created and attached to you.

    This box prevents the AI from seeing you.

Notes

Common Issues:
- "I can't see the UI, even though it is on"
> You may have to change the UI Y position in the addon options.

- "The mod is preventing me from interacting with things, etc"
> Bind the "Toggle HATG" keybind and use it to disable the mod when you need to.

Just for me playing Scenarios requires to host a server.

till now i realize that this mod isnt a replacement of ACSTG.Although this resolve ai spot prone player in grass,prone ai can still spot player through grass when player are not prone

@CHASOH those aren't settings, those are just the changes because of chainging fullscreen to fullscreen window, sorry

Was enjoying this mod but I'm getting a pretty bizarre, game breaking, and maybe very content specific bug: With only CBA, CSLA operations, and this mod loaded, getting near the first objective in the scenario "Delivery" causes dozens and dozens and dozens of enemy squads to spawn. Hundreds of AI rush your position and drag the game down to single digit FPS. Unloading HATG makes the mission run normally and you only encounter a handful of squads. I've had similar experiences in other CSLA missions, and a variety of issues with other campaigns/scenarios (Apex, Prairie Fire, etc) but I can't say if those are related.

Its ok i got it working, i just followed @drunk driving compilation #42s instructions. I changed the Y position to 0.40 and the graphic appeared. Its possibly a setting on my side that has put this off screen on my monitor. All good again Thanks fore the info DDC

Installed this mod months ago and it was all fine, one day it just stopped working, now I cant seem to get this mod to work, no matter what i do. I have installed and deleted and reinstalled, checked all settings are default, ran it as the only mod and it still doesn't work. Reset all server settings to default as well. Maybe an Arma update has changed something but at the moment i'm at a loss

so this does or doesn't work with antistasi ultimate due to it being on multiplayer only.
nevermind, seems like it works now; had to play with it

what i did was:
fullscreen > fullscreen window
(ui size decreased)
(icon visible)
ui y position: increase instead of decrease

it's a bit odd that y pos is negative, but any chance you could support different ui sizes natively so anyone else doesn't have to go through this again?
