Partial Clip Storage

Description
Partial Clip Storage

Allows the storage of partially empty pistol clips in your backpack so you can reload at your leisure.

This addon requires AlyxLib to work.

Note: Valve refers to their gun magazines as "clips" so this addon will refer to them the same way for consistency.

How To Use

Store partially empty clips into your backpack as normal. Your ammo pool will be increased by the number of bullets left inside the clip. Full clips will be taken out of the backpack until you have less than 10 bullets left, at which point a final clip will be removed with the number of bullets left.

Version 1.2.0 introduces an alternative tracking mode for incompatible pistol addons.

If partial ammo isn’t being stored in your backpack, do the following:

  1. Attempt to store a partial clip into your backpack.
  2. Insert the clip into your pistol.
  3. Remove the clip from the pistol.
  4. Then try storing it in your backpack again.

If partial ammo still doesn’t get stored after this, please leave a comment with a link to the addon you’re using so I can look into it.

Known Issues

The invalid storage instructor message might appear sometimes when trying to store partially empty clips. If this happens to you please leave a comment with what you can remember about the moment (exactly how were you storing the clip? Did you have any other addon enabled?)

Sorry for taking so long to respond, Steam doesn't give me proper notifications. I found out the problem, I was just an idiot. I installed the mod and tried using it on my pre existing save. I made a new save and it worked just fine! I love it!

What happens when you store partial ammo in your backpack in campaign, do you get any ammo at all? Can you share a list of mods you're using alongside it?

So the issue I'm experiencing with the mod is. It doesn't work in the main story. But DOES work in the Bioshock Mod. What the heck?!

v1.2.0 uses an alternative ammo tracking method for "USP Match (Half-Life 2 Pistol)" automatically. It's not quite as robust because magazines need to be inserted at least once before ammo can be determined. If ammo count is still inconsistent please let me know.

If the skeletal structure is different to the base game then calculations will be off. This mod works by testing the position of a model bone against a pre-determined table of values. I don't know of a foolproof way for getting the current ammo in any custom magazine (beyond hard coding each addon).

Hey, I think there's a conflict with this mod and Anti-Citizen USP

further testing now shows that only after 7 shots is the threshhold before you can partially reload. so if you attempt a reload below that number, yer S.O.L use that ammo wisely now

now that it has been said, good luck with that PC! I feel that pain.

theoretically shouldnt matter since the stock 1911 and USP are or sbould be identical

okay examining the patterns it looks like I can only store magazines that are in the "orange" as in I literally cannot store ammunition after like 2-3 shots, there are SOME limitations still but I can technically still store partially empty mags but only if it is in the "orange" (I am using the USP replacement mod which helps determine this)
