Manticore - (WM) Shipyards

Description
Walsing & Mohr, presents. the Manticore heavy fighter bomber.

DISCLAIMER - This build is now a legacy product and is no longer receiving updates at the time. Further revisions may come in the future as the game further improves and block value balancing stabilizes.

The Manticore is a versatile and durable armored craft that fills in the role of dedicated fighter bomber, capable of inflicting grievous wounds onto cruisers and other capital sized vessels, with the use of heavy anti-ship ordnance and multiple rocket launcher systems.

This is a practical ship reproduction, intended to perform well under real combat conditions, it is thus not 100% accurate to the original.

(Blueprint version.)

Ratings and comments, much appreciated!

Credits

- I would like to thank Tostito for the EVE model export that was used to make this ship a reality.

- This replica was based on the EVE Online stealth bomber frigate Manticore, which is the copyright of CCP games.
I take no credit for the original design of the hull, only in the craftsmanship and ingenuity that went into its reproduction.

- The skydock hangar that comes with this vessel, was designed by myself, to showcase my small ship builds.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Known issues and bugs

- Landing gear rotors are capricious and can sometimes "Jiggle" themselves into oblivion during high speed maneuvers, they still need some work. Landing too fast can also cause the rotors to just break.

- Ordnance pistons are very "Jiggly" as well while in flight and require lateral bracing, achieved with the landing gears next to them, to keep the whole mechanism from exploding while bomb gears are lowered. This will only be an issue if you forget to activate the bomb stabilizers before accelerating, otherwise everything holds up fine.

- Impact bombs may not detonate, depending on the angle they impact a ship, explosive containers are not super reliable.

- This build was optimized for DX9. Colors and lighting will not look as intended if used with DX11, we are waiting for KSW to further refine their DX11 settings before commiting time and effort to it.

@7thS†ΛR★ this build is now extremely outdated, it was designed before thruster re-balancing and the addition of cargo mass calculation. Much as it saddens me to admit its now been rendered obsolete and is in need of a major overhaul, which i am not willing to perform until the devs lock their shit down and begin the landing phase of the game.

You can use it without mods but its definitely not gonna look or remotely function as intended, i tend to build my ships with as little mods as possible to get the desired results.

Hmm, is there any other way to play without mods? I mean, manuverability is queit low. Not bad at speeding, but changing vector feels sooooo heavy.

Thank you for thinking of me. Since I've been using this nick/handle since the 1990's I'm flattererd to now be a ship. I will subscribe to myself. Actually I look good in those screenshots....... ;)

@xspeachy

Yeah i'm currently working on simplifying some of the controls and fixing issues, a massive update to both this world and its blueprint counterpart are underway.

To turn on the power you can either press the button under the cockpit, or press 1 on toolbar number 3. To unlock the landing gear you have to press 3 on toolbar 3 This is due to the gears not being on the same grid as the cockpit, an issue i have fixed for the upcoming update.

It would be nice if it actully moved

MY GOD! This is awesome, I've been fucking about with replicating eve ships on and off (maybe i should upload my Hobgoblin Light Fighter Drone) but this is far better work than I've yet done on one of my frigate-size ships. Kudos

@ LC12K

I suppose i should have written a manual, haha.
To turn on the power you can either press the button under the cockpit, or press 1 on toolbar number 3,

To unlock the landing gear you have to press 3 on TB3 and 2 to retract the landing gear. This is due to the gears not being on the same grid as the cockpit, this is a drawback of using pistons or rotors.

Hopefuly in the near future we will be able to create macros, working in tandem with timers to cut back the number of buttons required to operate a ship this complex.

Sorry to sound dumb, but how do you take off? I'm pressing P to unlock the landing gear, and there's no signs of power on the ship ..
