HeroQuest Revived

Description
What started out as a redo of the 1990s Milton Bradley (now Hasbro) board game HeroQuest has morphed into a mod with, dare we say, a life of its own being inspired by HeroQuest, The Bard’s Tale, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and many other pieces of art. You control a party of would-be champions (Lvl 1 party recommended on Normal difficulty) that find themselves shipwrecked in the small kingdom of Skara Brae and enjoying nightly, shall we say, pastimes until they are pressed to service by their landlord Belenus. There is always some work to be done and soon they are called upon to aid the local merchants, villagers, royal advisors and who knows - maybe even the king and queen themselves. The mod boasts an entire bartering system of medieval style shoppes, unique spells, items, potions, weapons and armor as well as a wealth of NPCs and encounters that move the story along. Can you save the kingdom of Skara Brae? Can you face and thwart the threat of the Dread Magic? Can you clear Epona’s attic of mice and other vermin? All this and more in HeroQuest Revived.

Download Note: To get this Mod to perform properly:
1. Load mod page but don't subscribe just yet.
2. Start the Grimrock II game
3. Click Custom Dungeon
4. Subscribe to the mod
5. Go back into Grimrock II and the mod should be in the list under HQRedo
6. Select the mod and create a party.
7. Start the game and save it.
8. Then after you close the game and wish to play again, use the Load Game menu item but don't click Custom Dungeon as that would (for some unknown reason) remove the .dat file from your computer.
9. If you happen to click on “Custom Dungeon” again for some reason, simply unsubscribe and resubscribe with the Grimrock II game already started. Then you should be able to Load Game where you left off.

Alternatively do this:
1. Load mod page and subscribe.
2. Start the Grimrock II game but don't click Custom Dungeon
3. Open the folder that contains .dat files for custom dungeons (for both PC and Macintosh the folder is called Dungeons)
4. Locate the mod .dat file (with size around 70 MB)
5. Copy it to another folder, rename it and copy it back to the original folder.
6. Select Custom Dungeon, select HQ Redo and create a party.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is a glitch in the Steam system and we cannot control it.

@Sir Lukas. Thanks for giving the mod a try. As to your dilemma You should have had plenty of opportunities for Meteorites. The Tarot Card reader has a list of locations in which they can be found. The door in Skara Brae SW cannot be opened until after the Wardoz Quest is complete. So it is not a factor. Can I ask what is keeping you from completing the Catacomb Sewers? As you obviously defeated Ulag or you would not have been able to go to the next quest. Bottom line, you do need to have all of the meteor armor pieces before you can open the gate. So you may have to retrace some of the previous quests to obtain the missing meteorites. There is one in the cemetery between two the two twins graves if you have not found it yet

Hi , i am stuck in cemetery , looks like i need two meteorites to get the full meteor armor set to open the East door . Can't open door in Skara Brae SW and can't complete Catacombs Sewers West of map. I have Search for Wardoz as Main Quest and get Holy Hand Grenade as Side Quest. Any hint about what i am missing ?

Thank you for the answer, smccartt. I missed a wall that opened, which leads to the part with the rat trap. I'm going to start the game over from the beginning on a higher difficulty. I guess easy is a bit too easy. At least now I know I don't have to jump into every hole in the rat trap room :D

Hi Combusto90. Thanks for trying out the Mod. This might be the solution to your problem On the other side of The Rats Trap room there is an alcove. In that alcove is a brass key that is used to unlock the Burial Chamber Entrance to the west of The Rats Trap. You have to enter the burial chamber in order to get to the Tomb Room where you use the Tomb Key.

I admit, i'm stuck. Was in the catacombs, found a tomb key but no keyhole, a bread recipe, that i used for the quest and a closed gate but i don't know how to open it. Now i don't know what to do next.

@glowy: Neither of us (authors of the mod) is a computer graphic artist. If you know someone that is willing to put in their time and skill in making replacement pictures for this mod for free, let us know and we are willing to produce "AI-free" version of this mod. It is always easy to suggest what should be taken out but certainly much more difficult to suggest a suitable alternative as a replacement.

i'll try it again if u take out the AI "art"

Hey malcolmdale, I am not sure, what the problem with the light spell is. I also started a new party and worked my way to get to lvl 2 so that I could cast Light but i tdoes not cause any crash. Does casting any other spells cause crash (fireburst or other simple spells)? Did you try to reload and cast the Light spell again, at various places?
