Introduction

Hello! This is a large project I started a while ago that I feel has hit a notable milestone. Currently I have made progress with Empire, Dwarfs, and some for Chaos and Norsca. This project is ongoing and will continue to be updated
as I make more progress, eventually culminating in updating every texture for units from the first game to now.

WHY

During the transfer from game 1 -> 2 -> 3 the textures had a noticeable drop in quality and increased saturation. Details were lost, Normal maps even suffered. I am taking these textures and using photoshop and paintnet to manually update the textures by combining WH1 diffuse and specular, as well as even adding detail that was missed originally or that might improve the texture overall. CA has done some textures on their own, I have opted to not update those textures (Empire Lord, Boris Todbringer, etc)

Results

At first I didn't expect a noticeable change, but after looking at Franz and Archaon, I knew this would be a fruitful endeavor. The textures look a little darker and more detailed. Franz texture sheet somehow got smaller from WH1 to WH3 for instance. It really helps bring back the grimdark look from the first game a little that was lost. The textures from WH2 don't seem to suffer from this issue, at least not that I noticed. I am also fixing broken alphas, textures and other oddities I find.

I removed them from this pack for compatibility reasons. If you use Hooveric or other reskin mods, just subscribe to this mod and not the linked fixes above.

Any little bit helps as disability only goes so far. This is a long on going project that I plan on expanding and eventually looking at Warhammer 2 factions as well. Please feel free to report any broken textures and I will try to fix them.

Not that I've noticed. I have set it up to replace textures and they are the same size as base game textures, only issue is the file is a little big. I am most the way done so it shouldn't get too much bigger.

I assumed it was intentionally left out. I don't believe I did their texture yet so it isn't as if I'm not adding it on purpose. When I port it, it will be as it is in WH1.

any plans to add back that one emblem the imperial artillery crewmen had on their chest back in warhammer 1? That's a detail that didn't make it to wh3 and it wasn't reintroduced in this mod as of right now

actually, it seems like the bug occurs when BOTH this mod AND warhammer 3 visual bug fixes are enabled... any reason as to why?

tested and i was in the wrong, It's caused by warhammer 3 visual bug fixes, i'll let the creator of that mod know

this mod apparently causes bretonnian paladin/generic lord horse mounts to vanish entirely after a single lod change? this carries over to every horse mount of every bretonnian lord on the campaign map, could this problem be looked into?

Oh right, pink, orange, and cyan knight variants don't appear either.

That might be impossible to fix sadly.
