The Maximum Carnage Collection

Description
What Is This?
A compilation of single player maps, primarily downloaded from Maximum Carnage's Rise of the Triad fan site[maxcarnage.duke4.net], all squeezed into one big campaign pack for use with Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition.

Why Did You Do This?
Boredom, mostly. There have been bits and bobs uploaded from this collection, but I decided to just toss everything that I possible could into one big pack.

What All is Included in This Map Pack?
  • 14 Maps released as stand-alones by 14 authors
  • 23 Maps released in 8 small level packs by 7 authors
  • 3 Maps released as stand-alones from up to 3 unnamed authors
  • 14 Maps released in 5 small level packs by up to 5 shy guys
  • 3 Maps by me, all of which are very silly and just for kicks
Where Did You Even Get These?
From the Rise of the Triad page of "Maximum Carnage" over on Duke4.net:
https://maxcarnage.duke4.net/rott/

Be sure to check the other stuff this fella collected! It's a real time capsule!

Hey, Where's [insert level here]?
Some maps couldn't be imported for some reason or other. They are as follows:
  • Kevin Gill - "Using Keys" (Game crash; memory error 6)
  • George Fiffy, "Matt" - "HUNT Begins: In Hell!" (Game crash; memory error 6)
  • Carson Jones - "smasher" - "Skin Your Ass" (Game crash; memory error 6)
  • Unknown author - "Bucky!" (Game crash; memory error 6)
  • Unknown author - Tiger1.RTL - "Hot", "Crown Me" "BOOM" (Misplaced Comm-Bat levels?)
Why doesn't [insert level here] look / play like I remember?
I tried not to edit maps when and where I could, but sometimes, a map was missing this, or crashed the game for some reason… things like that. Most of the time, the changes are minimal and shouldn't be noticeable.

A complete list of changes can be found on the change log thingy.

Why Aren't the Big Map Packs Included?
I had a self-imposed rule about this collection: if a map pack had more than half an episode of content (4 maps), it was better off being (re-)released as its own Custom Campaign. There were 28 map packs I didn't include which fell under this rule. Some had between 5 and 9 levels. Some had between 11 and 20. One even had 45 levels! The average number per pack was about 13.5 levels, though.

How to I Actually Use This?
Since Ludicrous Edition allows for custom campaigns, it's super simple stuff.
  1. Subscribe to this map pack to actually download it.
  2. Once it's downloaded, open the game.
  3. Select "New Game" -> "Custom Campaign" -> "The Maximum Carnage Collection"
  4. Have fun!
Issues and Bugs
  • For the most part, these maps are provided as-is. They were imported directly from the various 𝚁𝚃𝙻 files found on Maximum Carnage's fan site and, for the most part, the only changes made were to the metadata to add the map authors and campaigns. Some maps may not work correctly, but I genuinely have no idea.
  • Low Guards don't spawn on any difficulty in "Dopefish Death Quest!!" Not sure why.
  • Some maps have really weird Area Tile distribution. In RottEX, this causes things to appear and disappear. It sucks, but there's not much I can do about it.
Credits and Legal Stuff
Original maps conceptualized and created by various authors and released under various licenses.

Maps compiled in their (mostly) unaltered forms by Jo Li KMC for non-profit entertainment purposes only.

UPDATE: Nevermind, I see the RTL names are in the level select descriptions. Perfect.

Ah, thank you! I didn't make most of these maps, but I'm glad you like this pack!
