DIP Extra Comm-Bat Map Pack

Description
What Is This?
A compilation of all the extra, non-commercial Comm-Bat maps made by the Developers of Incredible Power for Rise of the Triad.

Why Did You Do This?
Well, I made one for the commercial maps (The HUNT Begins, Dark War, Ludicrous Edition), but I didn't want to mix the commercial and free maps together. So, here's this one, too.

Feel free to merge them together and make your own release, if need be. The official Map Editor is a breeze to use; this took me literally minutes.

What All is Included in This Map Pack?
  • 20 Maps from the Reject Map Pack (and 1 joke map)
  • 4 Maps from the Ohio Comm-Bat Pack

How to I Actually Use This?
There are a couple of ways to do this. One is a bit more "old-school" than the other, but it works.

This first method is basically for "preview" purposes. It's no different than opening the existing 𝚛𝚝𝚌 maps and testing them.
  1. Subscribe to this map pack to actually download it.
  2. Once it's downloaded, navigate to your Workshop folder for RoTT:LE and run a search for "𝚛𝚎𝚓𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚘𝚑.𝚛𝚝𝚌𝚡".
    (Typically "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1421490" under Windows.)
  3. Copy that file into your Saved Games folder.
    (Typically "C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\Rise of the Triad - Ludicrous Edition\" under Windows.)
  4. Open the Map Editor and click "File -> Open Mapset In… -> Saved Games Dir"
  5. Open the file "𝚛𝚎𝚓𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚘𝚑.𝚛𝚝𝚌𝚡", pick a map, and test run it in Comm-Bat Mode.
This second method is… questionable. Since the game doesn't currently allow custom Comm-Bat map packs, you're going to be overriding your existing Multiplayer map pack. Sounds scary, I know. But, I'll walk you through it.

Please note: if you modify your game, you do so at your own discretion. I cannot and will not be held responsible if something goes wrong on your end.
(But of course, you can always uninstall and reinstall or "Check Integrity" if something goes wrong, so.)
  3. Grab the file "𝚛𝚎𝚓𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚘𝚑.𝚛𝚝𝚌𝚡" and put it into your RoTT:LE "Assets" folder.
(Typically "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Rise of the Triad - Ludicrous Edition\assets" under Windows.)
  4. Locate the file "𝚛𝚘𝚝𝚝𝚜𝚒𝚝𝚎𝙴𝚇.𝚛𝚝𝚌𝚡" within that folder and rename it to anything. Please, do not delete it.
(I'd recommend remaning it to "𝚛𝚘𝚝𝚝𝚜𝚒𝚝𝚎𝙴𝚇.𝚛𝚝𝚌𝚡.𝚘𝚕𝚍" or something similar, for convenience.)
  5. Rename "𝚛𝚎𝚓𝚎𝚌𝚝𝚘𝚑.𝚛𝚝𝚌𝚡" to "𝚛𝚘𝚝𝚝𝚜𝚒𝚝𝚎𝙴𝚇.𝚛𝚝𝚌𝚡".
  6. With all that done, open RoTT:LE and go to Comm-Bat Game.
Using this method, all options should work, provided other players are using the exact same version of the map pack. I tested this in LAN Mode and it worked just fine. (Luckily, the game is too "dumb" to realize the map pack was modified.)

Issues and Bugs
  • These maps are provided as-is. They were imported directly from the official 𝚁𝚃𝙲 files found in the "Assets" folder and the only changes made were to the metadata to add the map authors and "campaigns". Some maps may not work correctly, but I genuinely have no idea.
  • The maps are internally categorized as "Normal" maps rather than "Comm-Bat" maps. This was done to maintain proper map order and categorize them into "Campaigns". For the end user, this means absolutely nothing. All they'll see is 24 maps in order of release. However, it's possible that it may confuse the game at some point down the road. If that happens, I'll make sure to update the map pack accordingly.
  • Due to how the Multiplayer map list currently works, maps aren't categorized. It's just a raw list of 24 maps. I can't do anything about this. Sorry.
