Description
Overview :
There may be multiple patterns of furniture overlay graphics, but the patterns are defined per coordinate, not per item. Therefore, when you bring furniture back to your base and place it there, you may see a different graphic than the first time you picked it up. This mod solves that problem and allows free selection of overlay graphics for furniture. And for world-placed items other than Moveable, the placement position can be adjusted.

Confirmed to work with Build 41/42 and also work on MP.
Split-screen play is not supported.

Features - 1.Change Furniture Display :
You can change the overlay graphic freely by following the steps below.

(1) Execute "Change furniture display" from the item or world context menu.

(2) You can select the graphics to display from the configuration window.
  • Press the "Select" button below the graphic you want to display.
  • The currently selected graphic will be marked with a red circle icon in the upper right corner.
  • "Default" will return to the original display mode. In this setting, the graphics displayed will change depending on the coordinates of the placement.

Features - 2.Adjust Item Position :
This feature has been integrated into vanilla as "Extended 3D Placement" in Build 42. Therefore, it has been removed from this mod in the B42 version. However, the vanilla functionality has been extended as follows:
  • Expanded position offset range (range can be adjusted via options)
  • Feature can now be accessed from the item's context menu
You can adjust the placed item position by following the steps below.

(1) Execute "Adjust item position" from the world item context menu.

(2) You can change the item positions and rotations from the adjust position window.
  • "--" button : Decrease value a lot.
  • "-" button : Decrease value a little.
  • "C" button : Clear value to zero.
  • "+" button : Increase value a little.
  • "++" button : Increase value a lot.

Options :
These options are available in Sandbox Options. (Only B41)
  • Meta > Enable Adjust Item Position : Enables Adjust Item Position. This option is intended for cases where you want to limit this features to users in MP.

Q&A :
  • Which furniture can I select graphics?
    This includes container-type furniture such as shelves and furniture with overlay graphics such as chairs covered with sheets.

  • Can furniture from other mods be made to work?
    It's possible, although it needs to be handled individually. Please request the mod name.

  • How do I do a piece of large furniture that has been divided?
    You can select graphics in each divided part.

  • What happens if I rotate the furniture?
    If the furniture is rotated, it will be processed as a different item. Therefore, please select the graphics for each direction. However, if the same direction is made again, the previous selection is kept.

  • Already I have been selected, but before I know it, it's back to the default display..?
    It may have reverted to the default display for an unknown reason. Try moving items in and out or re-placing furniture.

Supported Mods :
This mod supports overlay images added by the following mods.

Known Issues :
  • If the overlay graphic of the oven has been changed, there is a problem with the overlay graphics disappearing when the device is turned on or off. In this case, the graphics will not be restored unless it is manually changed again.
  • The menu of sinks does not appear in the world context menu. However, this is due to the vanilla implementation and cannot be resolved at this time. If you wish to change the display of a sink, please pick it up once and then execute the change process from the item context menu.
  • If an item is removed from a square that contains an item whose height (Z) has been changed by the Item Adjust Position feature, the height of other items in the same square will be restored. This is a vanilla specification, but I'm considering how to handle this on the mod side.

Future plans :
  • Bug fix (if it exists)

Remarks :
  • This mod requires that "DISPLAY > Textures > Double-sized Textures" in GAME OPTIONS is ON. If this option is OFF, the correct size will not be displayed. I don't plan to support this option now, but I will consider it if there are enough requests.

Release Notes :
  • v1.15 - Added "Always Empty" mode.
  • v1.14 - Removed Adjust Item Position Feature. (B42)
  • v1.13 - Compatible with Build 42.
  • v1.12 - Added Sandbox Options.
  • v1.11 - Added ContextSubMenu, Added translation (RU), Supported Pineville Mod.
    Please refer to "Change Notes" for the older history.

you read my mind XD
two days ago, i was thinking 'should i ask the Decoholic modmaker for a version of shelves and similar, that is always empty so can place decor onto them and still use them?'
thank you for getting there before i even got around to asking :D

Thank you, thank you, thank you! So glad you were able to make this possible! I love filling the book shelves and stacking stuff on the racks and now I can without wasting the actual storage inside the container.

Thank you so much for enjoying my mod, and for the lovely suggestion! You're absolutely right - that feature is a perfect match for decorating with 3D placement. So… I’ve added it in the latest update! You’ll now find a new option called “Always Empty” in the selection menu. Give it a try and enjoy your decorating adventures even more!

Hello, i really love this mod, thank you for making it! ^^
Is there a possibility of empty shelf displays to be added? I really want to decorate my shelfs with extended 3d placement without having to empty the containers first

@RunYouCleverBoy
Thank you for the suggestion. In the latest version, this mod’s placement feature has been integrated with the vanilla Extended 3D Placement Tool. Since the mod you linked appears to support vanilla functionality, I believe they should be compatible—but please feel free to give it a try and see how it works on your end.

@Tony, @AlexFromKarelia, @Syn, @Edelweiss
It seems the issue was related to SteamCMD not updating Workshop mods properly on dedicated servers. Thanks to Syn and Edelweiss for sharing the fix—glad to hear it worked!

Thank you for the suggestion. Most props can actually be removed using a sledgehammer. While sledgehammers can be hard to come by, I believe that the challenge of finding one is part of the fun in Project Zomboid. I’d encourage you to give it a try through vanilla gameplay first.

@Codemonkey3
Thank you for the suggestion. This mod is designed to let users assign custom overlay sprites, but I see—you’re asking whether it would be possible to intentionally assign an "empty" or blank sprite instead. That’s an interesting idea. I’m not sure yet if it would be technically feasible, but I’ll add it to my list of things to explore in future updates.

Sorry for the late reply. I believe you’re referring to the error that occurred when picking up items in Build 42.4.0. That issue has already been fixed in version v1.13.2, so please check if it works for you now. If you still encounter any problems, feel free to report them in the bug report thread. Thanks!

@Kate Reller
Thank you! I’m really happy too—Vanilla’s new Extended 3D Placement Tool is a much more user-friendly feature overall. In fact, the latest version of this mod now extends and builds upon that vanilla functionality, so I hope you’ll give it a try!

@marshmallow justice
Thank you for the bug report, and I’m sorry for the late reply. This mod performs some rather unique processing, which can make it more prone to conflicts with other mods. Has the situation changed since then? If you’re still encountering the error, I’d really appreciate it if you could share more details in the bug report thread.

@Nimdok
Thanks for the suggestion. While the priority for this is relatively low at the moment, improving the UI (including scroll support) is already on my to-do list. I appreciate your patience and understanding in the meantime.

@LumberingTroll
Since Build 42 added the Extended 3D Placement Tool, the position adjustment feature in this mod has been deprecated in the latest version and replaced with the vanilla functionality. So if you're looking for hotkey support, it would be best to request it directly from the official developers. Also, for Build 41, I only plan to apply bug fixes, not feature updates.

@fen
Sorry for the late reply. Since this mod forces overlay images onto furniture, it’s possible that the issue is caused by the mod itself. I’ve opened a bug report thread in the Discussions tab—if you could provide more details there, it would be greatly appreciated!
