I am considering it as a new mod as well...just not sure I want to have to constantly update game files with beta patches, etc.
It's one of many things I've been waiting for them to fix for 3.5 years :( Modders don't get much love from DW2.
A mod CAN be made to give each race separate images, but that mod would have to edit game files (most of my mods just replace vanilla art assets to keep things as compatible as possible). I've considered doing this (and am thinking about it again).
The problem with editing game files is, because of how DW2 treats mods, I can't just change the picture. If I want to change something, DW2 makes me include all stats, modifiers, abilities, references, records for troops of each race, even if I just wanted to change the picture.
@Metalium -- I think so too! I know some folks like the NATO-inspired symbols and that's fine, but I like these more :D
