Description
Addon

A selectable footstep sound set utilising Draconic Base's "Footstep Set" feature, which allows you to pick which footstep sound set you wish to use from the in-game menu.

Contents/Features

  • Several rich Escape From Tarkov footstep sounds for different materials (now in 44.1 kHz!);
  • Jumping/landing sounds;
  • Gear overlay effect: it differs depending on whether the player is walking, running or sprinting;
  • Varying footsteps for when the player walks, runs or sprints on materials.

How to use

Open the Draconic Menu. Select your playermodel. Go to "Extra" > "Footsteps" and select "EFT Operator". Click "Apply Changes". Enjoy.

Issues&limitations

  • This pack uses the EFT "asphalt" sounds for concrete/stone, since the EFT "concrete" sounds are too dirty for HL2-type concrete;
  • Going underwater isn't recommended with this footstep set enabled ("wade" and "water" use the same noise for stepping on puddles, which sounds awful when actually swimming);
  • Doesn't include all in-game materials (for instance, "snow" and "sand" use the same sounds as "dirt").

Other

The actual content folders contain many more sounds that can be used in other addons by yours truly, or if you yourself want to edit this addon and use them for your own project.

Just updated.

@Timmy My Boys, the Other section lets you know that there's more content in the addon than the script it comes from.

This comes with two folders: "EFT" and "EFT2". Currently the script uses "EFT" sounds which are batch-converted from the "EFT2" folder in a way that Source recognises them. A lot of the originals (in the "EFT2" folder) seem to have unusual properties making a lot of the sounds unreadable by Source.

I might get around to update this a little bit (there are some materials that need updating) and re-convert the sounds to 44kHz instead of 22kHz, but for now, 22kHz sounds pretty good for what it's worth.
