More Trinket Slots

Description
Changes the amount of trinket slots you can obtain in game. By default the mod increases the max trinket slots to 8. This mod can be configured to let you get more or less trinket slots than the game typically allows.

Make the game easier by making it possible to obtain more trinket slots than the vanilla game. Or give yourself a challenge by limiting your trinket slots more than the vanilla game. You can use built in presets for the mod or modify the settings to fit your specific playstyle.

Note: This mod should be completely safe to use on existing saves. However, to be safe you should always backup your world when using a new mod your world.

Features at a glance:
  • ability to change how many trinket slots you start with
  • ability change how many trinket slots can be obtained by setting which bosses drop items to increase trinket slots (and by how much)
  • adds 20 items that can be configured to give more trinket slots
  • adds 4 unobtainable items to add/remove trinket slots
  • adds 1 unobtainable sword to instantly kill mobs (for testing)
  • adds a file to each world save file that is used to configure the mod for each world
  • adds 3 commands to configure the mod and check it's current settings
  • changes the broker price of all items that increase the amount of trinket slots to 100
    • this is currently due to a game limitation of not being able to change the broker price of items once the game has loaded
    • if I find a way, I plan on adding the broker price of each item to the mod's setting file and changing the broker price of each item when the save is loaded
  • adds textures for dectrinkets and inctrinkets

Default Settings
By default this mod is set so the player starts with 4 trinkets slots and can get a max of 8 trinket slots. To see details how check Default under the Preset section below.

Commands
This mod add 3 commands:
MTS.info <slots/bosses/items/all>
  • Outputs information about the mod's settings to chat for the user.
  • Permission Level: User
MTS.trinketslots {player/all/online/offline} {set/reset/max/adjust} {new amount}
  • Change the amount of trinket slots for the target player(s).
  • Permission Level: Owner
  • Note: Items in trinket slots that are remove because of this will be lost.
MTS.loadpreset {default/vanilla/nogain/zerotohero} {subpreset number}
  • Changes the mod settings to a built-in preset.
  • Permission Level: Owner
  • Note: When changing presets it is recommended to use `MTS.trinketslots all adjust` or `MTS.trinketslots all reset` to ensure all players have a trinket slot amount that fits within the preset's restrictions.

Presets

Default (default)
Changes the game to make it possible to get 8 trinket slots.
  • Empty Pendant
    • Dropped By: Void Wizard
    • Sets trinket slots to 5
  • Pirate Sheath
    • Dropped By: Pirate Captain
    • Sets trinket slots to 6
  • The Crone's Crown
    • Dropped By: The Cursed Crone
    • Sets trinket slots to 7
  • Wizard Socket
    • Dropped By: Fallen Wizard
    • Sets trinket slots to 8

Vanilla (vanilla)
Preset that uses the same exact settings as the base game so you get a "vanilla" experience. Useful if you want access to the commands to change slots but don't want to actually change the game.

No Gain (nogain)
Bosses no longer drop items to increase the amount of trinket slots. By default players start with 4 trinket slots but you can use the optional {subpreset number} parameter to set the amount of trinket slots they start with. For example you could use `MTS.loadpreset nogain 1` so players only have 1 trinket slot and there are no drops to get more.

Zero to Hero (zerotohero)
Players start with 0 trinket slots and more bosses drop items to increase trinket slot size. The optional {subpreset number} parameter determines how many trinket slots players can obtain. The options are 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, or 12 and the default is 6.

Settings File
You can configure the mod yourself by modifying the settings file that it creates. This mod creates a file called `mtsSettings.cfg` in each save file. This file is used to load settings for this mod. This makes it so each save file can have their own settings. Save files on windows can be found at `C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Necesse\saves`. Save files are stored as zip files, so to edit the settings file you will need an application to view and edit files inside zip files.

You can find more detailed information about this mod on the github here[github.com].

Another thing to note is if this is done wrong or my mod can't find the boss for some reason it's entry in the config file will be removed. So this may take some trial and error. Also the mod boss entries will be removed if you load with save with my mod but not their mod. Their also isn't currently a warning a system for that so be careful if you are constantly changing mods.

If you are anybody else has issues with this or finds the steps a bit more complicated please let me know. I you want I can make a youtube video walking through each and every step. I will probably do this eventually when I finish the GUI update I have planned but I can prioritize a few small tutorials if people need them now.

It is a bit tricky but you can edit the "mtsSettings.cfg" file. A more detailed explaination can be found on the mods' github readme "Settings File" section at this link [github.com]. A brief explanation is that you need to find either the stringID or class name for the mod boss. To find the "stringID" you need to do the following:

1. load a creative world
2. open the cheat menu by pressing F10
3. click mobs in the cheat menu
4. search for the mod boss in there
5. find the exact mob that drops the boss items (some bosses are split into multiple mobs)
6. use the exact name that shows in the cheat menu, for example Cryo Queen's stringID is "cryoqueen"

The stringID is much easier to find but I have had it fail to work on certain bosses in the past. So as a backup you can use the class name instead/ Instructions on how to do that can be found at the link above.

Also on a side note/question, how can I add drops to mod-added bosses? for example, Aphorea adds quite a few, and I'd like to add the magazines to drop off of bosses from that mod.

All vanilla and mod commands in the game require / to be placed in front of them. Try typing / in chat and you should see a small list that shows you some possible commands. This list should also update as you continue to type the command and give the format of the commands also. So the complete command for setting all players trinket slots to 12 would be the following:

/MTS.trinketslots all set 12

Note in this case it will not effect new players that join. To do that you need to edit the mod config file. Also it is important to mention that MTS.trinketslots and MTS.loadpreset require you to be owner/host of the save file. In single player you don't have to worry about that but in multiplayer that prevents random players from using these commands.

If the commands don't work even without the / in front please let me know.

To add to what PixelatedDrake said.

On my end I wasn't able to make any of the MTS commands work, nothing happens when they're typed on the chat (I couldn't find anywhere else to type them on).

Via editing the settings file that is inside the world's save, however, I was able to make this work - albeit existing characters will have to get the items that increase the number of trinket slots via killing the bosses that drop them (since "MTS.trinketslots" doesn't really seem to be working).

I am currently looking into simplifying the process by adding a GUI in game but currently you need to make a save, close the game, and edit the `mtsSettings.cfg` file it creates within the save's zip.

The explanation is a bit old and I will probably update it to make it a bit more clear but you can find more details on the github's "Settings File" in it's readme here [github.com]. One thing worth noting is changing the initial trinket slots will never take away slots. For example if you set `initialSlots` to 1 any player that has already joined will keep their trinket slot count but new players will be set to 1. If you want to lower everyone back to 1 you will need to use the `MTS.trinketslots` command.

I can't fit a full explanation here because the character limit but it is still giving you trouble add me on steam or let me know here and I can walk you though it step by step if you need.

So I'm a little confused by how to configure the mod. I'd like to increase the max number of slots to say 12, but want there to be progression to get there, nt just running the set command. I can't make heads or tails of the settings on how exactly to accomplish this though and could use some guidance.

For fun I might but it isn't a high priority. I think I may do a huge update where I'll add a settings GUI, retexture the old items to fit the current graphics, and add more items for the missing bosses.

Do you plan to add trinkets to bosses that dont have them at the moment like rune chieftain, crystal dragon, Spider Empress, Sunlight Champion, Moonlight Dancer, Crystal Dragon and Ascended Wizard? Checkedd by cfg file in world save.
