Old World Blues - Bone Cohort

Description
28/09/2025
Version: 2.5.3a

Happy Birthday to me

Just bugfixes and getting back in shape.

"Two brothers. That's what they were, from where did they come from? Why they were here? And most importantly... will they survive what is to come? The Oregon wont be the same..."

"I do not care what you say, the Oregon will be mine." -Borealis

The Oregon has been an uncivilized rectangle of horrors for the last 200 years. Caesar hopes to defeat the NCR in less than 230 weeks. But to do so, unbeknownst to most of the Legion, he has set up a contingency plan in the form of the Bone Centurion and his lesser brother. If they succeed in conquering the Oregon tribes and securing the north, they expect to earn a place at Caesar's side. If they fail... they'll serve as a good distraction!

Will the Twins succeed, or will the Centurion Council see to their demise?
  • Establish your Cohort! As a Legion expedition, construction is limited, and industry is even rarer. Make wise choices to ensure victory over the Oregon tribes! (Don't forget your camera!)

  • Maintain relationships between the Centurion Council, through bribe or cutthroat methods, or face the peril of a civil war!

  • Or follow Caesar's will to the letter and be named the 'Legate of the North'!

  • Determine the fates of leaders and key figures of Oregon. Will they serve alongside the Bone Centurion, or will their deaths strengthen his rule?

  • Unlock Centurion traits and secure the Bone Centurion's legacy as either the greatest figure the Oregon will ever know, using the religions, technologies, and methods of both the Legion and the Oregon tribes!!

  • Interact with a variety of characters, or go alone, and rule by yourself...

  • Extensive Narrative Elements! Illiterates abstain!

  • Slavery returns! Check the Mapmodes!

  • This is a 'Hard' mod, you might lose! But you can try again!

  • Play with the Wild Wasteland gamerule for more flavor events! (Too Wild)

Fully works with and without DLC.
Should be compatible with most mods!

As far as I'm aware, the only way to get Defectum "onside" as it were is to Mesmerize him with the Gorgon Queen's Mesmerizer. Or remain loyal to Caesar.

Question how do you bribe defectum

I do apologize for flooding your chat with paragraphs I'll stop, I wasn't trying to argue about the Legion though, I was just sharing Bethesda's lore from everything I remember and the 20 seconds I spent on google confirming it lol. If they were a roaming band of slavers with no industrial capabilities they obviously wouldn't be keeping the NCR, a nation that does have industrial capabilities to some unconfirmed degree, at a complete standstill at the dam on the verge of having to retreat. Cool mod and good luck out there.

Hey Doc, if you want to argue the whole meaning of the Legion and how it is represented, join the discord of the mod and we can talk, I could go on for paragraphs but Steam comments isnt the best place!

Come and tell me how it goes!
DocHolliday 24 Oct @ 2:31pm
Caesars literal goal is to start a post Apocalyptic roman empire out of the bones of the NCR by merging it's INDUSTRIAL and civilian manpower under the banner of the legion. So definitely not a roaming horde. But again, didn't see the easy mode so my bad. Obviously my complaints are moot if there is already a built in normal difficulty.
DocHolliday 24 Oct @ 2:26pm
and frankly Bethesda has never been known for their immersive story writing, they're known for their wacky and entertaining story writing, because obviously a nation that controls all of California and beyond 200 years after the bombs fell would be capable of jerry rigging their own industry from the bones of what was left behind. One thing the games depict quite well actually, is the buildings still being largely intact, including many factories as we see in fallout 4. Realistically.... a nation with the resources the NCR OR Legion have would be capable of starting those factories back up, or replicating their own simpler versions, that knowledge isn't suddenly gone forever, just needs to be rediscovered, and seeing as how they've had 200 years and are surrounded by examples to follow....... I'd wager it's a much smaller stretch to say they have some form of industry now when compared to saying they are still using scrap metal machetes and football pads as armor......
DocHolliday 24 Oct @ 2:26pm
Well apologies then, I never saw the easy option so that's my bad. But with all do respect the legion is trying to conquer the country they aren't a roaming horde even if you've seen them described as such, I mean they have an official capital, and have been hold up in a Mexican stand off at the hoover damn for a long time now in lore.... Thats not very nomadic is it... What you see as a "Roaming horde" is just what a conquest hungry army looks like lol. They are no more nomadic than the NCR... They rallied nomadic tribes under their banner mind you, like Rome did, but that's it, which is also the sole reason they did that lol, to better embody the post apocalyptic Rome vibe they have going.
Iván  [author] 24 Oct @ 9:57am
And Doc, if you think its unrealistic, its because I tried to make a realistic submod about a literal roaming slave army.

Its not a state, it doesnt has factories for real, its just a nomadic horde. The Legion in vanilla OWB doesnt makes sense, nor does those 2 state nations that can build thousands of things. Its my mod and I wanted to show a different way of playing the game. If you like it, its fine, if you dont, its fine too.

Thats why the Easy mode exists. And honestly, this mod isnt even hard. It all depends on how you play, if you battleplan and hope for the best, then yes. Its impossible. Because HOI4 ITSELF, wasnt made for that.

It's a 'STRATEGY' game. Have some STRATEGY.
Iván  [author] 24 Oct @ 9:50am
@DocHolliday

When you start the mod, literally before you do anything, there is a decision.

That decision is the 'Easy Mode'

It lets you play the mod without the building/production maluses.

If you think the mod is too hard, you can play in the easy mode.
DocHolliday 24 Oct @ 7:00am
Too each their own though I guess, it's your mod obviously so you can do whatever you like, I just think when you have people in the comments saying they tried 50 freaking times to beat it once, you might consider accepting the fact that this was tuned for someone who lives and breathes OWB, because in NO reality is any above average or worse player completing this, rendering all your hard work and story writing past the first segment completely pointless. Regardless this mod looks well done even if you have to be the Julius Caesar of HOI4 OWB to experience all of it, so nice work either way!
