Description
SeaBoss Systems (SBS) "APEX" PREDATOR MK.II - Special Operations Vehicle

The "APEX" PREDATOR is the next generation of armoured Special Operations vehicle designed for "aggressive pursuit and conflict". Originally based on requirements commissioned from a "young eccentric billionaire" the APEX has now been militarized and is designed to outrun, overtake and overwhelm the enemy. Sporting a larger wheel based and heightened suspension allows for better off road movement. New capabilites have been added including scanning and sighting RADARs, ballastics calculator, optional elevated drivers hatch seating and a variety of new weapon systems.

The APEX operates in 3 modes: PURSUIT, TURRET and DRIVER.

PURSUIT: The camera and sighting radar are fixed forward and are on the main body. Turret rotation while viewing the screen is restricted to forward only. Operational speed is set to allow for Max (~210 km/hr)

TURRET: The camera and sighting radar are on the turret and the view rotates with mouse look. Operational speed is reduced and is set to allow for up to 150 km/hr.

DRIVER: The driver's hatch slides forward and the driver's seat is elevated to allow for an unobstructed view. There is a 1x3 monitor that shows information such as speed, selected weapon system and compass immediately for view. Looking down in to interior should still allow for view of scanning radar and access to various control switches.

The APEX is sloted with a number of new weapons system...
* 2 x Light Autocannons (LAC) - Fixed Forward (ammo for 200 dual bursts)
* 4 RADAR Guided Missiles (MSL) - Turret Mounted (SARDINE) - Useful for AA or GND when fired from an elevated location
* 1 x Heavy Autocannon (HAC) - Turret Mounted (40 HE rounds + 80 HE rounds in storage)
* 1 x Radial Mounted Machine Gun (RMG) - Turret Mounted (with 5 additional ammo holders)
NOTE: The turret mounted weapons can be reloaded from inside of the vehicle.

The Turret Mounted weapons intergrate with an augmented version of the ZE Ballastics controller. Augmentations include...
* Ballastics properties are based on dynamics weapon type persented to the controller. Therefore RMG and HAC are both supported simulataneously, not just one weapon system selected from the properties.
* Introduction of Coordinate Lock Mode (C.LOCK). When a target is highlighted (via the IR Laser) if you press and hold 4 on the keyboard for 1 second it will determine the GPS Location of the target (including altitude) and actively target until cleared (pressing 4 again). If you move to another location the turret will swivel to acquire the target (ACQ under turret diagram) and adjust for weapon elevation depending upon the range and weapon type. To help with precision targetting pressing and holding the 5 keys will disable ballastic adjustments temporarily and cut Mouse Look sensitity by half.

The turret is controllable by mouse look and can be set in two modes beyond just free look
* T.LOCK - TURRET LOCK - Tap the 4 key - Locks the turret to the current relative rotation and elevation. Useful for when you need to use your mouse to click switches/buttons or to look around. When the APEX spawns it spawns with T.LOCK active.
* C.LOCK - COORDINATE LOCK - Hold 4 keys for 1 second - It is only possible if a targetable weapons systems (MSL,RMG,HAC) is active. It requires the IR ballastics laser (shown as square on monitor display) to paint a target location so that the GPX X/Y/Z can be acquired.

NOTE: A visible laser option is also available by means of a toggle switch on the RADAR and LASERS control panel to the front right.

FEATURES:
  • Fully automatic drive system based on ZE 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION. To move forward press W. While moving forward S is brake. To move in reverse hold the S key, at that point brake will move to be the W key.
  • Various MFDs including main "virtual" displays for driving while "buttoned up", MAP (Buunu's moving map with Target Info and Time), RDR (360'), Environment (Weather) and Heat controls.
  • Dyanmic Ballastics Calculator (ZE Artillery Ballistic Calculator)
  • Sighting (NNTC RADAR HUD) and Scanning (SIMPLE RADAR) Radars. The Scanning radar has been augmented to accomodate zooming of camera. The SCANNING RADAR forward direction is based on the direction of the turret.
  • Standard SBS Multi-band Radio System
  • Radiation Detector with Alerting System
  • Seating for 3 (DRIVER + 2 ASSAULT CHAIRS). Access is via Driver's Hatch or swing hatches on either side of vehicle.
  • RADAR Detector and Flare Countermeasures (SSE Radar Warning Receiver)
  • Various equipment including First Aid, Defibulator, Fire Extinguisher, Welding Torch, Flashlight, Radio, Dog Whistle, Transponder Locator, 2 x SMGs with Ammo, 1 x Pistol with Ammo, Grenades, C4 with detonator.

CONTROLS:
  • W/S - FORWARD/BRAKE/REVERSE
  • A/D - STEERING (steering is also possible using Mouse Mode)
  • LEFT/RIGHT - Turn Signals
  • UP/DOWN - FOV Zoom
  • 1 - Toggle between TURRET and PURSUIT MODE
  • 2 - Turn on Mouse Steering (when in TURRET mode steering will be based on the turret's direction)
  • 3 - Cycle Weapons (NONE/LAC/MSL/RMG/HAC)
  • 4 - Turret Lock - Tap for T.LOCK, Hold for 1 second for C.LOCK, tap again to clear
  • 5 - Hold to temporarily disable ballastics calculator and reduce mouse look speed by half, it prevents turret "bouncing" particular if you are trying to highight a target that is on a hilltop with sky in behind
  • 6 - Parking Brakes

Quick Start to get you driving...
* Enter the vehicle via the side hatch or the driver's hatch. When you open the driver's hatch the seat will also elevate in to position.
* Turn the ignation key location to the lower right of the driver. Disengage the parking brake by tapping the 6 key.
* To move forward press W. While moving forward S is brake. To move in reverse hold the S key, at that point brake will move to be the W key. To steer use A/D key or hit 2 to switch to mouse mode.

To start shooting...
* Tap 3 to cycle between available weapons (NONE / LAC / MSL / RMG / HAC). It will cycle back to NONE when you go past HAC.
* The ballastics calculator is on by default for MSL, RMG and HAC. Just put the reticle on target and pull the trigger. If the target is Out of Range the distance reading will go RED and you will see ****. However you can still fire.
* For the Light Auto Cannons they are fixed forward and there is a reticle that will appear in the main monitor when you are in PURSUIT mode only.

NOTE: The APEX is more then capable of traversing any territory but be wary when travelling over rough terrain at high speed. The suspension may bottom out at a high speed or jumps and any impact could result in possible death or "physical deterioration"

Sorry if that came off passive aggressive, but the words "eccentric billionaire" made me think of the Batmobiles Origin in the Nolan Films

I assume this is your own spin on a certain... flying mammal themed tank..?

Thanks, ZumbieFan296. :) Much appreciated.

I feel your pain with missiles and it's something that seems to hamper all things RADAR based. For simple missiles the problem is that the X/Y Composite head output will lock on to most immediate contact. If that should change during path of flight there's no way to coax it back. The only implementation I can think would be to use the RADAR Data Composite output. The problem with that is that it would require at least a 1x3 microcontroller on board and the addition of the physics sensor. That adds additional length to the missile. I'm playing around with it though.

The thing I love about the SARDINE from NNTC is that it is very compact and agile for a Radar guided... and it usually does the trick if the environment isn't cluttered with RADAR contacts. The recent aerodynamics update seems to have altered it a bit as I was able to use it before in almost straight line shots. Now for ground targets I have to aim above a target.

also if you take a look at the workshop, not only is the predator prototype's design very original but now that you've updated it it's become one of the only futuristic designed armored vehicles with real guns out there

this thing works wonders against AI tanks and practically any other vehicle apart from planes, everything works perfectly apart from the missiles, which, just like the LGMs on your attack helicopter, seem to randomly go off course and lock onto invisible stuff somewhere else. Apart from that, this thing is great and I love it, 9/10 :steamhappy:
