I was actually shocked when I learned you had to manually activate the turrets to make use of them. They took a great concept for a useful research item and made it dumb & anti-fun.
Imagine if you had to manually activate regular turrets in-game whenever you wanted them to start shooting an enemy...
I've attached a screenshot in regards to the performance hit, I have 9 turrets on this map vs 20 colonists - there are no fires or enemy when this screenshot was taken.:

If there's any way to improve performance of this mod it'd be great! I'm keeping it for now as long as I can keep my TPS above water (over 140). Still, thank you for making a mod for them so they don't suck in needing a colonist to activate them (especially for distant locations on map/during enemy induced lockdowns).
Now I'm excited to try them again!
