Description

Not enough time to pick up those gold nuggets? Gold is Forever leaves so many nuggets around that your system chokes on the physics calculations? Look no further, the best of both worlds is here: Doctor Hammers' Gold Decay!

Gold Decay replaces gold nuggets with their value in gold dust when they expire, letting you pick up the gold at your leisure without melting your CPU.

This mod replaces the vanilla Gold is Forever perk with the Gold Decay perk in the perk pool. There is an option to receive the perk on spawn.

Settings

Decay Mode
* Perk (default) - Replaces Gold is Forever in the perk pool with Gold Decay
* Replace Gold is Forever - Removes Gold is Forever from the perk pool and gives the player the Gold Decay perk upon spawn
* Off - Soft-disables the mod

Dust Percentage

* This controls what percentage of the original nugget will be converted to gold dust.

For those wondering, no, the mod does not create "blood gold dust". Blood money decays into regular gold dust, so there is still an element of wanting to get gold quickly if you have blood money and need healing.

"blood gold dust" would require modding in at least one entirely new material and deciding what its properties would be, such as which alchemical reactions it would have (for example, does it become molten gold or volcanic rock on contact with Lava?) It'd be doable but not simple.

However, this mod does seem to work with other mods like "Long Life Gold" which make gold last longer without lasting forever, and gives you more time to pick up blood money without a huge performance hit from Gold Is Forever. Or you could use "Therapeutic Gold" to make all gold dust heal you, tho that strikes me as overpowered.

It would be nice to have a toggle that makes the gold dust spawn a little bit above the gold nugget when it despawns so that it wont get stuck inside of corpses and other material that gold nuggets tend to go through.

Also I wonder if, to limit the amount of gold dust that could clog up the map a lot, it would be possible to use different kinds of precious material that has more value when there's a lot of decay happening at the same place or there's large gold nuggets.

I locally minimized the nugget lifetime and it plays quite well. It would be great if you could add this as an option.

And thanks for the mod, it's great and makes nice synergy with "Therapeutic Gold".
