Better Austria-Hungary

Description
About
The vanilla game makes the Habsburg Empire into a single, united monolith that can easily neglect internal matters and easily project it's power around Europe. In the reality it was anything but. The Austrian Empire was occupied with internal matters for most of the period and in the end it was internal turmoil that accelerated it's end. To represent this Hungary and Transylvania have been elevated to the level of subjects. This is historical as both countries had their own parliament and internal laws at the time. However as the Austrians learned in the revolution of 1703, Hungary makes for an unruly subject.
At the same time national movements across Europe are on the rise and the Austrian and Hungarian lands are home to countless nationalities who are yearning for freedom...

Will the Habsburg Empire remain as it is? Will it fall apart? Or centralize into a single state or become a confederation of equal? Maybe something else entirely!

Features
  • Makes Hungary and Transylvania personal union subjects of Austria at the game start.
  • Overhauls the Matter of Hungary journal event of Austria, which is now about the process of the integration of Hungary and the formation of the Dual Monarchy.
Playing as Hungary you will have to try to keep the integration progress of the Austrians low, while playing the Austrians you should strive to maximize it.
  • Adds Historical Characters to Hungary, including Kossuth Lajos, Batthány Lajos, Széchenyi István and in rare circumstances Petőfi Sándor
  • Non-Railroaded events for the Hungarian Revolution and the April Laws.
  • Transylvania has the option of trying to join Hungary or walking it's own alternate path.
  • Event for Croatian independence or secession

Planned
  • Historical and Alternate flags for Austria, Hungary, Croatia, ect.
  • Croatia as playable country at game start.
  • More flavor for all countries connected to Austria and Hungary
  • Events, Journal entries for the Danubian Confederation
  • Events, Journal entries for Czechia and Slovakia
  • More options for interacting with subjects for Austria

@Tesvir I stopped working on the mod when the DLC was announced, since the content is very similar

It's been well over a year now. Is there any chance to get an update for this mod?

@Tesvir Sorry! I got a bit sidetracked with the university year starting. It is in the works though.
If you want to play an early access version feel free to download the mod from the github link in the description, it has a few bugs though.

Not like I am trying to rush you, but when do you think we may expect the update?
Last time I tried to play I couldn't trigger the revolution no matter how many times I tried.

The historical path also makes Hungary a vassal again.

@Akselander
There are multiple ways to form AH currently in the mod. The historical way is with a decision that appears when hungary is annexed and has a lot of radicals.

The centralized AH of the base game is formed by making hungarian an accepted culture, which didn't really happen so no knowing if it would be benefical for the Habsburgs or not.

The formation of Austria-Hungary wasn't a good thing for the Habsburgs. Wouldn't it be better if you would try to incorporate them into the empire and when you then lose German leadership, you have to form Austria-Hungary or else you'd lose them entirely?

I am very much looking forward to it!

Yay! That's great to hear!
