Report a translation problem
In my current game it seems like stairs are created on rock and ladders on soil...so in a way, i got what i wanted :)
Maybe if the ladder was given similar properties to the levers & mechanisms it could function like a removable piece of some sort.
Also would love to see the ladders be added as an additional option along side the stairs, rather than just replacing them entirely.

I'm actually fairly certain I remember thin hallways actually causing issues. Mind you because of how the base game was displayed, a lot of interactions are calculated and happen without being graphically displayed. I remember one of my friends talking about dwarves crawling over each other causing problems, and I know single staircases causes really bad fps problems related to pathing ai much later on in a fort.
