Lost & Found: Dwarf Miners (Steam Drills)

Description
This mod adds Dwarf Miners with Steam Drills to the Dawi roster. As only elite miners attempt to bring such tools to the battlefield, this unit variant is significantly stronger than their pickaxe wielding brethren, acting as a high tier specialty armor-piercing and armor sundering unit. Along with their Underground Advance ability, they can launch sneak attacks on enemy backlines, or ambush unsuspecting foes!

Miners (Steam Drills) are recruitable from the Tier 3 barracks building and are buffed by any skills or technologies that targets normal miners units.

NOTE: This is a standalone mod with the original Underground Advance ability. An updated version is present in: Lost & Found Dwarfs: Mining Expansion.

  • Expand mod into a larger Miners Overhaul mod Miners (Steam Drills) unit will retain a standalone submod for those that prefer.
  • Tweak unit stats/cost based on user feedback. The goal is to be balanced around vanilla TW:WHIII.

much appreciated! currently we’re working on Cathay’s new units, adding new for Dawi besides rework would need to wait a period of time, I’m just here to ensure the permission and satisfy my curiosity lol

I can't take credit for the original idea. I only slightly tweaked the setup used in ChaosRobie's mod and the script from prop joe. But I agree it was very clever!

1. If I recall colission is turned off and the travel time is effectively instant to where you click.

2. The teleportation is pretty easy. Just a command to change its coordinates to the coordinates of the dummy unit.

3. If prefer not as I have an SFO compatibility mod out now for my dwarf content. But feel free to let me know if there are parts you find that don't mesh with it! Working on getting it fully balanced with feedback on bits I missed currently.

OMG... this is so genius
ok then I have few questions:
1. how does this invisible projectile be fired to anywhere? wouldn't projectile be blocked by objects like towers, buildings, walls, mountains etc.?
2. how does the original unit teleport to that invisible unit's position? by changing scripted coordinate?
3. can I use some of your units & abilities in future update of SFO Additional Units mod? I am currently in charge of its remake version

The ability actually fires an invisible projectile that summons an invisible dummy unit. The original unit is then teleported to the dummy unit and the dummy unit is destroyed.

hello, can you simply explain to me how did you accomplish the teleportation of this unit? kill then resummon a new unit without any ability buff?

Also, I noticed you commented on the Lost & Found Collection.
I wouldn't have both this and that mod turned on as that might cause some issues as well.
