Orbital Defense Platforms Beta
This is my second mod for Stellaris and is still in beta, it requires Apocalypse for some elements.

This mod adds three tiers of builds which unlock the "Create Orbital Defense Platforms" decision, with the final tier unlocking the "Create Orbital Ion Cannons" decision. This can be used on planets and habitats however the final tier requires a fully upgraded capital and habitat platforms can clip into the habitat.

Tier 1: Up to 6 platforms around the planet
Tier 2: Up to 10 platforms around the planet
Tier 3: Up to 15 platforms around the planet, Up to 1 Ion Cannon
Eternal Vigilance: +3 platforms, +1 Ion Cannon
Finished Unyielding: +3 platforms, +1 Ion Cannon
This gives a total of 21 Orbital Platforms, up to 3 of which can be Ion Cannons.

The Defense Platforms have a minor buff to make them a bit more competitive with Orbital Rings, the cost of the platforms is to approximate their starbase cost but also to account for their buff, selecting Eternal Vigilance will reduce these costs somewhat.

There are some issues with repairing the platforms but they fix any position issues shortly.

Compatibility
This mod only adds content and so should be compatible with anything else. If included with Lithoid Supremacy, then the Lithoid Supremacy buildings will supersede the ODP buildings.

@Gake Life has been a little busy so I haven't had any time to update any of my mods. Hoping to get some time on the weekend.

Hey, so it's been over a week, you good? I ran some tests and realized that in order to do what I want I'd need to the AI to be able to realize that they're sending their troop transports straight into oblivion... Which doesn't sound like something I can do.

The mod design document I made didn't involve a cap- instead I was going to try to balance it around the idea of occupying the defense platforms long enough with a fleet for an army to land. My theory crafting found a few issues with that approach, namely that:

1) If you tie it to Soldiers that means the invasion forces will have to be beefy.
2) You would have to change Army behavior so they don't run away from fleet combat.
3) You would need to have a new "retreat" button which would switch the fleet's engagement method (the combat computer thingy) to be "go to 400 units away and run a script to end combat" kind of deal. The base-game retreat involves forcing the fleet to go MIA for a long time and that really doesn't fit into what this mod would be trying to achieve.
4) Either vastly increasing the combat width or making all armies much more rare.

That's a great point actually, that sounds like an issue with ODP that it doesn't do that. I could make soldier jobs increase the defense platform cap too, did you have a max limit in mind?

The type I was thinking of making would have Soldier jobs (in general) increase your Orbital Defense Platform cap and when you take over the planet the control of the Orbital Defense Platforms would switch control to the new owners... But if you're going to update this then that removes a major reason I would've wanted to make the mod.
