A dressing kit is just that: a kit of equipment, which you have to individually take out the parts, apply the correct procedure, and dress a wound. Which you really cannot do while running around.

Agreed. Couldn't properly finish the first boss without admin or other max-protection mods in the standard "Hard", didn't try Hardcore version yet. I'll admit I suck at combat, but this is ridiculous (at least the boss fight was for me).
Some checkpoint is stupid,player would be shoot to death again even before skip the death scene.
And there are start points without checkpoint that cause player die to the ship.
